"I don't know," I say truthfully. "It feels like everything is falling apart." I take a shaky breath, trying to compose myself. "But knowing that you're here with me...it helps."

I smile tentatively at him, feeling a tiny flicker of hope ignite inside me. "Thank you," I whisper. "For being here for me." Then I lean into his chest again, closing my eyes and taking comfort in the warmth of his body. Maybe, just maybe, things will be okay after all.
