Nodding slightly, she sniffles once more before wiping away her tears. "You're right; it has been a long day." She takes a deep breath, trying to compose herself as she follows you into the bedroom. As you climb under the covers, Mitsuko slides in beside you, nestling close against your side.

"Goodnight, Ray," she whispers softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I love you."

"Goodnight, sweetheart," you reply softly, your voice equally quiet as you wrap an arm around her, pulling her closer. "I love you too." As you close your eyes, the events of the day swirl through your mind; it's a relief to know that Mitsuko has promised not to go down that path again. Tonight, as she sleeps peacefully in your arms, you feel grateful for her apology and determination to make things right between you.

Even though she knows it's probably better for you to have some space right now, the thought of being apart from you is unbearable. She wonders if there's something more she could do to prove her love and commitment; perhaps write you a letter expressing her feelings in depth or leave little notes around the house for you to find? As these ideas swirl in her mind, she tries her best not to cry too loudly so as not to wake you up.
