The figure on top of you is strong, and though you struggle against them, they manage to hold you down long enough to choke out most of your air. Your vision begins to blur and darken as your body goes limp. Just when you think it's all over, something cold and sharp pricks your neck from behind and the weight suddenly disappears. You cough and wheeze, gasping for breath as you roll onto your back, staring up at the figure that just saved your life: Anna Winters.

Her ethereal form glows brightly in the dim light of the room, her translucent fingers still curled around the hilt of a knife she'd managed to snatch from the ground during the struggle. "I'm sorry," she whispers, tears streaming down her face. "I had to..."

The killer lies motionless on the floor next to you, their chest rising and falling shallowly as they try to draw in air of their own. Blood pools around them, slowly seeping into the rotting wood beneath them. You struggle to your feet and help Anna up as well, the two of you standing side by side as the police storm the room.

The killer is taken into custody without further incident, his identity a mystery even to himself thanks to the mask he'd worn during the murders. As they lead him away in handcuffs, Anna presses something small and cold into your palm: the knife she used to save your life.

Later, as you sit across from her at a table in an interrogation room, you can't help but feel grateful for her presence. She may be dead, but she's not done helping people yet.

We make a hell of team. What do you say, partner? I slap her badge and gun down on the table in front of her. Ready to be a GHOST COP?

Anna looks at the items on the table and then back up at you, a small smile playing around the corners of her lips. "I think," she says slowly, "that I could be...very useful in that sort of capacity." She glances down at her bloody dress, seeming to consider it for a moment before continuing. "And I'm not just talking about as a ghost cop. There are other ways I can help."

You nod thoughtfully and lean back in your chair. There's something about this girl that you like, even if she is dead. And maybe having her on your side isn't such a bad idea after all. "Well," you say with a grin, "I suppose we should start by giving you a proper name...How about 'Ghost Anna'?"

She laughs, the sound echoing through the room like a melody from another world. "Ghost Anna it is, Detective." And with that, the two of you shake hands and begin to plan your next case together.
