Eric sighs heavily, rubbing at his forehead where Trixan had shoved him. "You're an ass sometimes," he mutters under his breath. Turning back to the rest of the pack, he announces that they should continue their discussion without him. Then, with a final glance in Rain's direction, he disappears into the trees after her.

It takes him a while to catch up, but eventually he finds her collapsed on the ground outside her burrow, sobbing quietly.

"Hey," Eric says softly, sitting down beside her. "I know this is a lot. It was a lot for me too when we found out our women were gone. You don't need to make any decisions right now." He offers her his fur for her to lean against or bury her face in if she needs comfort. "If you want to talk, though, I'm here to listen. Or, if you want, I could bring you back to meet my dad and the others?"
