"Y-Yeah... okay." He mumbled softly, still processing everything that had just happened between them. As he got dressed, a strange mixture of emotions churned inside him: joy, confusion, guilt, and a tiny bit of fear. It was all so overwhelming that he couldn't help but feel a little dazed as they left the room together to go face whatever came next.
I picked up the little boy in my arms, carrying him down the hall and into the living room where I plopped him on my lap as I sat on the couch. I threw a blanket over us and flipped on a movie just in time for Alex, Jacob’s dad, to come back with the snacks.
"Hey, buddy," he said softly, nuzzling his son's hair with a smile. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt as he thought about what had just happened between him and Eliu; it seemed wrong somehow. But at the same time, there was an inexplicable pull toward the older man that made his heart race and his stomach flutter with anticipation.
