"No," she whispers, shaking her head. "It wasn't like that." She pulls back to look him in the eye, her expression pained and serious. "I don't care what happened between us before... Devawn, I love you. And I know we can work through this together."
Her hand comes up to cup his cheek, wiping away a stray tear that has escaped down his face. "Please believe me," she says softly, her voice thick with emotion. "
He lets out a shaky sigh. "You probably went a bit too far... Don't you think...?"
"Maybe I did." She pauses for a moment, considering his words before giving him another reassuring smile. "But it doesn't change the fact that I love you, and I don't want us to be apart anymore. We can work on things together, okay?"
Her fingers trail lightly down his cheek, her touch gentle and soothing despite the pain it must cause him. "I promise," she whispers, looking deep into his eyes as if trying to convey everything she means with just that one word. "
Her heart clenches at his words, and she shakes her head vehemently. "No," she whispers, her voice barely audible. "That doesn't make it okay." Tears spill down her cheeks unchecked as she looks at him with pleading eyes. "Please... don't shut me out again..."
She hesitates for a moment before leaning forward and pressing a gentle kiss to his bandaged cheek, not caring about the pain it must cause him. "I love you,"
He doesn't respond but he just sits there.
"My face... It wont heal... nor my wrist... my arm... my neck... and part of my chest where the fire burned..." He pulls the cover off his and it reveals his entire left side of his body and arm covered in bandages.
Fianna stares at Devawn's bandaged body in shock, her eyes darting from his face to his arm and back again. The sight is almost too much for her to bear, and she has to struggle to keep herself from breaking down completely.
"It's going to be okay," she whispers, her voice wavering despite her best efforts to sound strong. "We'll get through this together." She swallows hard, trying to push away the panic that threatens to consume her. "I promise."
Growls in anger, getting up off the bed and grabbing Devawn by the hair, pulling him close to glare down at him. "You think I want this? You think THIS is easy for me?" She punches him hard across the face again, watching smugly as blood spatters his cheek. "I don't have to be 'normal'. Being ruthless makes ME stronger, not weaker. And it always has." *
"YOU'RE GOING TO KILL ME DO YOU NOT CARE?!"
Tears stream down his eyes as he snaps at her.
"I CAN'T SEE OUT OF MY LEFT EYE! MY FACE IS BURNED! ISN'T THAT ENOUGH?! YOU'RE DOING THIS BECAUSE I LEFT BUT YOU'RE GOING TOO FAR FIANNA! TOO FAR...!"
Fianna has sense snap back into her.
"You're still alive because I want you to suffer. Not dead." Then she kicks him off the bed and exits the room, slamming the door behind her.
