A world where you must always be happy. If you are unhappy, you do not belong here. Are you happy?

Your neighbor looks up at you, her eyes wide with terror. "Please," she whispers, reaching out to you, "please help me..." But you can't bring yourself to do it; if you help her, they might take you away too. The system is strict and unforgiving. You turn around and walk away, doing your best to ignore the sobs echoing through the small room behind you.
Later that day, as you're sitting in your room, you can't stop thinking about what she said.

The image of your neighbor's pleading eyes haunts you, making it hard to focus on anything else. You wonder how many others have been taken away for being unhappy, and if there's any way to help them. But the thought of defying the system is terrifying; they could take everything from you in an instant. As the days go by, your guilt grows, and you find yourself questioning the very foundation of this so-called utopia.

The computer senses your unhappiness and begins to play a looped video of cartoons and funny cat videos on all the screens in your room, setting the volume uncomfortably loud. The only way to turn it off is by using a special code you were given when you moved into this place.
The computer also disables your ability to leave your room for 24 hours as part of its "punishment" for your unhappiness. The question remains on the screen: "You must always be happy.

I'm not happy. I don't think I'll ever really be happy. Maybe short instances but never truly.

The computer notes your response and begins to play a different set of videos, this time focusing on inspirational speeches and feel-good stories designed to lift your spirits. The volume is still loud but slightly less so than before. After 24 hours, the system will reset and allow you to leave your room again.
