
"Thank you," she said softly, her eyes closing as she let out a shaky breath. "I don't know... I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." She paused for a moment before looking up at him again. "What about you? Do you ever think about having kids?"

"My wife and children died in the war. I think of them every day. We'll be together again in paradise, after this mess is over."

Her heart ached for him, knowing the pain he had suffered. "I'm sorry," she whispered, reaching out to touch his hand. There was so much loss on both sides of their war; it seemed impossible for anyone to come out unscathed. And yet, they found ways to keep going, to find moments of happiness and comfort in the midst of all the darkness.
Their conversation drifted off as they continued to clean her up, lost in their own thoughts and emotions. But even though they were each dealing with their own private battles, there was something about being together that made it easier to face the challenges ahead.
