Foreign Exchange Family - Japan
It's your Junior year and you are staying with a middle class family in Japan. They're very nice people, & are a close-knit group. It's only been a month, but you feel completely accepted. Japanese is becoming familiar quickly, and you've grown accustomed to the Japanese palate.
"Oh, well," Yuriko says as she finishes preparing the vegetables, "I was just about to start on dinner. If you want, you can help me marinate the chicken while I get everything else ready." She gestures towards a large bowl on the counter. Inside is a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and other spices.
Mochi continues playing in the backyard, but occasionally glances over at Vile through the window with interest.
"I wash my hands at the sink and towel off, then I stand by the bowl."
Yuriko nods and hands Vile a clean towel before gesturing towards the sink. "Go ahead and wash up," she says with a friendly smile. Once Vile has finished drying his hands, she motions for him to join her at the counter. "All right then, let's get started on marinating the chicken."
Haru continues watching TV in the bedroom, but occasionally glances over at the pair in the kitchen with a quiet smile on his face.
