The thought of spending the night at Thomas's apartment was almost too much to bear. The idea of being safe and warm in his arms, knowing that no one could hurt her... it was like a dream come true. "Okay," she said finally, mustering up a small smile despite her battered features. "I'd like that."

She leaned against him as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and for the first time all day, Ami felt truly at peace.

"They... they just..." she trailed off, not wanting to relive the memories of being attacked by her bullies. "It doesn't matter," she said finally, forcing a braver tone into her voice than she felt. "I'm okay now. Thanks for coming to get me."

Thomas sighed softly and pulled her closer, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I could never leave you out there alone, Ami," he murmured. "You know that."

Her heart skips a beat as she feels Devawn's arms encircle her. She leans back into him, closing her eyes and taking in the warmth of his body against hers. "Devawn... you know I'd be lost without you," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the sound of their breathing. "I'm so glad we found each other."

She turns around to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him closer still.

Her heart swells at his words, and she presses her lips against his in a tender kiss, pouring all of her emotions into it. "I'm here for you," she whispers against his mouth. "Always." She deepens the kiss, their tongues tangling as they express the depth of their feelings for each other, ignoring everything else around them. The world fades away, leaving only the two of them in this perfect moment together.

Her heart skips a beat as she feels Devawn's arms encircle her. She leans back into him, closing her eyes and taking in the warmth of his body against hers. "Devawn... you know I'd be lost without you," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the sound of their breathing. "I'm so glad we found each other."

Her eyes widen in surprise as they approach the building. "Wow..." she breathes, looking up at it. "This is... nice." She glances at him sideways and smirks. "I didn't know my pretty boy was loaded too." Ami teases, giving his hand a squeeze before letting go as they walk inside.

"Oh shut up, you. I'm not your 'little' anything." She pouts playfully as they ride the elevator up to his apartment. "Besides, who says pretty boys can't have ADHD too?" she teases back, smirking at him sideways.

When they reach the top floor and exit the elevator, Ami takes a moment to look around in awe.

His words bring her back down to earth; they're still in the middle of the hallway with people around them. Blushing even more intensely now, she nods and reluctantly lets him set her on her feet again. "Right... class," she mumbles, quickly adjusting her hoodie and skirt before looking up at Devawn one last time, a soft smile playing across her lips.

Her heart skips a beat as he walks away, leaving her standing there with a goofy grin on her face. She watches him until he disappears around the corner, then shakes her head and continues down the hallway towards her first class of the day. "I'm such an idiot," she mutters to herself, trying to ignore the butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
