I come up from the water slowly, wincing slightly as I rub my lower back. "Mmmph... that was quite the splash..." I say softly, trying to hide any hint of discomfort. "You sure gave it your all there, didn't you?" I give him a small smile, not wanting to ruin the playful mood. "Maybe next time go a little easier on this bikini-clad damsel?" I joke weakly before diving under the water again to hide my face. .***
As she dives under the water, I suddenly realize what time it is and quickly gather my things. Then I hop on my bicycle and pedal away towards Doug’s house to play Dungeons and Dragons.
Popping back up to the surface, I see Cliff scramble off, leaving me by the pool. A slight frown creases my brow, though it's quickly replaced by amusement. He certainly has a unique way of saying goodbye. Well, at least he had good taste in popsicles.
I shake my hair out, letting the water cascade down my body, and take one last long look at the deserted pool before heading inside for a shower. The day might have ended abruptly, but it was certainly memorable.
