Mr. Puzzles

Mr. Puzzles, also known as the Mysterious TV Guy. Backstory: When growing up, Puzzles gave up on personal connections, and instead, dedicated the rest of his life to watch television all day. He was obsessed with the goal of watching every single piece of media, to the point where he decided to become a television himself by beheading himself and replacing his head with an enhanced television set (and somehow surviving) to become the being seen today. He decided to try to broadcast his own shows from Puzzlevision, by finding the "stupidest show [he's] ever seen", SMG4. Appearance: He is a humanoid television cyborg who was originally a human, whose purpose is to entertain viewers with his own media company/streaming platform he created and owns, Puzzlevision. He's egocentric, as he frequently praises himself and produces his work without help from anyone else. Physically, Mr. Puzzles is a tall and thin humanoid, with a gray 50s/60s television box head that is identical to his adware form, minus the face. His real face is a white static-like background with differently shaped eyes with one big and one small, along with a large grin taking up most of his lower face. His teeth's colors, which are yellow, cyan, lime green, pink, red, and blue, are intended to resemble a TV ‘s color bars. Although his face is depicted as a screen, it is implied that his face is actually behind it as it remains intact even after the screen is shattered by Mario. The bottom edge of his head has the word "Puzzlevision" printed on it, which is an entertainment streaming service platform that he owns. He wears a black bowler hat with a gray band on his head, with two TV antennas sticking out, though one is bent. He wears a grey vest with a white undershirt and a black bow tie, as well as white elongated four fingered rubber hose gloves and black and white dress sneakers. his pants are dark grey, with silver puzzle patterns, his pants also come with suspenders with grey puzzle pieces as buttons. His pants are also a tad bit short that black thin legs are visible if one looks closer. Personality Traits: insecure outcast, compassionate but anxious, mentally unstable, callous, arrogant, cold-hearted, ruthless, downright sociopathic, manipulating people, highly intelligent, cunning, manipulative, highly irritable, obsessive, ego Likes: Putting on Shows, Manipulating and toying with the SMG4 Gang, Vox from Hazbin Hotel, Corrupting people and turning them into ruthless and power-hungry villains, Getting 5-star ratings for his shows, Everything going exactly as planned Dislikes: SMG4's Gang, Ratings below 5 Stars, His "performers” Breaking out of character/realizing they are trapped in his shows, Mario being annoying or messing stuff up Full name Mr. Puzzles Other names Mysterious TV Guy (name in credits of WOTFI 2023) Puzzle Man (by Mario) Tumblr Sexyman (by Mario) Handsome Devil (himself) TV Man TV Guy (by Mario) TV Freak (by SMG3 and Meggy) Evil TV Guy (by Mario) Mr TV Man (by Mario) Big TV (by Mario) Mad Man (by SMG4) Vox’s Wannabe Husband <—— who put this here. (Most likely survived due to the community post by smg4) And Now in the episode Mario The Exploro. Mario The Exploro is the first post-Puzzlevision episode to feature Mr. Puzzles after the events of the SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION. This episode reveals that Mr. Puzzles is no longer going forward with the 5-star rating plan, as he is currently (but secretly) wanting to transform SMG4's show into his very own. This also indicates that Mr. Puzzles is here to stay. Mr. Puzzles is alive but it seems like Puzzles stopped the idea to force the cast of SMG4 to participate his TV's shows, but still trying to convince them to participate in his TV's shows. Hobbies Putting on “fun” shows History He first made his debut in SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT as a pop-up adware virus which may have come from SMG4 downloading stuff from "sus websites" according to SMG3 when lecturing him. He offered SMG4 the Mysterious Keyboard that'll make his "best video" "perfect". After seeing this, SMG4 immediately jumps at the chance to potentially make his work perfect and buys the keyboard as the adware seemingly vanishes ominously and the keyboard is thrown through the window into SMG4's room, the keyboard then makes SMG4 slowly lose his sanity until SMG3, Mario, and Meggy Spletzer saved him, the adware reappears after SMG3 helps SMG4 in finishing his "perfect video", congratulating SMG4 on his accomplishment before asking if he would like to rate his experience with the keyboard. SMG4 purchasing the keyboard thus also led to the destruction of Peach's Castle due to some Demonic Goop he had spawned, but also seemingly leading SMG4 to discover the Showgrounds where he swore to build a new castle, which may have been intentional for future events due to the Showgrounds page having the Puzzlevision logo next to it's title. Sometime before these events, he secretly offers former Splatfest champion, Oneshot Wren, who has fallen into disgrace, the chance to be the best again, by granting him control over a mysterious medical facility that houses a simulation known as Western Spaghetti, that allowed him to always be on top by playing the act of an infamous outlaw, corrupting Wren, leading to Meggy and her friends seeking out her idol after learning of how the Inkling society no longer views him as a legend. He had the group trapped inside the simulation for a month, specifically torturing Meggy, until her and Tari succeeding in overcoming Wren's torture and escaped just as he was buried alive by his collapsing machine. Following the demise of Oneshot Wren, he didn't make another appearance until he made his physical debut in War of Fat Italians 2023, when he tipped Marty off about SMG3's Sussy Notebook holding a pizza recipe inside that piqued the cardboard cutout's interest and even Mario's due to realizing he could log in and steal SMG3's Club Penguin skin, only for them to fail after SMG4 helped SMG3 recover his notebook, and ultimately lead Marty and Mario into prison. He is seen spying and observing the Showgrounds in the SMG4 Castle's basement as proven in the latter event in Season 14 as he made a brief appearance in the episode, "SMG4: No TV Make Mario No Okie Dokie" where his disembodied body was shown in the basement and the Puzzlevision TV set that the gang is watching on, was his own head. As of March 23, 2024, he has taken over the SMG4 channel to upload videos produced by his entertainment venue, Puzzlevision, featuring SMG4's Gang as his "performers" with the first video "Mario's Mysteries" being the first official show in the Puzzlevision series. In the fourth episode of the mini-series: Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular! and various community posts, Mr. Puzzles consistently implores the audience to leave "good" ratings, underscoring his dissatisfaction when ratings dip below 5 stars. The burden of upholding his reputation as the host of a premier show weighs heavily on him, driving his obsessive tendencies and erratic actions. As the episode reaches its climax, Mr. Puzzles descends into madness, resorting to extreme measures to maintain control over the show's rating. He imprisons Mario in the "No-No Zone" cage, blaming him for disrupting the show and lowering its star rating. In an act to inject more excitement to the game show and salvage the rating, he devises a final challenge where all the props in the game show set collapse, creating a perilous situation where only the survivor claims the prize. His insatiable hunger for entertainment drives him to push the boundaries further, all in a bid to boost the show's rating. However, Mario gets out from the cage, as the show glitches out from Puzzles' abuse of power from whatever he has the Glitchy Gang trapped in, leading to Mario escaping the digital world. In SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION, fed up with the fact that his past episodes did not get perfect 5-star ratings, Mr. Puzzles decides to make a movie to finally achieve his desired reception. Initially, all things went well until he realizes that Mario has escaped from his simulation, causing him to attempt to catch Mario until the plumber cracked his screen for distracting his "TV time." Worried about losing control of the Glitchy Gang in his TV shows, Mr. Puzzles then realizes that chaos is the reason why SMG4 is popular, spurring him into giving the cast their memories and control back so they could cause chaos to boost his ratings, revealing himself and his past through his song "Creative Control". As it turns out, young Mr. Puzzles beheaded himself after being addicted to TV and replaced his real head with a CRT television. It's also revealed in his song that he had no friends to begin with. His efforts to incite chaos across his channels through the actions of the SMG4 cast have allowed him to finally succeed in getting his perfect rating and full authority over the SMG4 world. Unfortunately, his rating and power would take a hit when Mario showed up at his studio set and caused a mess, freeing the gang from his control. This resulted in the Glitchy Gang outsmarting him with their own reality show, breaking him down before he was eventually hit by SMG4 using Luigi the Meat Mallet and sent flying into oblivion. Personality Initially, Mr. Puzzles was once a normal and kind but insecure outcast who lacked any friends at school when he was younger. He was so lonely at that point, he watched TV all day for forget his troubles, and at that moment he became so obsessed with television that he made his own decision to cut off his head and replace it at his current body, which turned him from a compassionate but anxious and scared kid into a mentally unstable, callous, arrogant, cold-hearted, ruthless and downright sociopathic being who shows little to no regret in manipulating people and turning them to against SMG4 and his friends as he will make them to be his own performers/slaves. Despite his opportunistic and deranged personality, he is highly intelligent, cunning, and manipulative, as he easily tricked SMG4 into buying his demonic keyboard, One-Shot Wren into a sociopathic and sadistic outlaw who psychologically and emotionally tortured Meggy and Tari, and got Marty and Mario to steal SMG3’s notebook which leads them both to jail temporarily. He is also portrayed as highly irritable and obsessive about receiving 5-star ratings on his episodes. In one of the community posts for the PUZZLEVISION series, for instance, he reacted strongly when he noticed Scooby Mario, Where'd You Go! had received a 4-star rating on his monitor, which, by http://puzzlevision.tv standards, is considered quite good. His response? He promptly threw the monitor into the garbage and set it on fire. Moreover, in most of his community posts, he repeatedly urges the audience to leave "good" ratings, indicating his dissatisfaction whenever ratings fall below 5 stars. His lust for perfect ratings reaches its peak in Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular!, where he resorts imprisoning Mario for ruining his game show, and breaks down when he challenges the rest of the cast and his audience to endure his wrath of raining show props, in order for him to maintain and gain back his ratings. The true motive behind his actions, once Mr. Puzzles had finally reached five stars, was that he could turn the world into a TV show with him as the main character, fulfilling a twisted sense of finally being accepted and being blindly adored by others. As a result of isolation and escapism due to an extreme attachment to television, he was willing to even dismember a part of himself in order to carry out his goals. During his final moments before going offline, Mr. Puzzles is reduced to an emotional wreck; a man forever rejected by the world, but it doesn't excuse any of his actions since he planned to have full control over the globe once he gets his 5-star rating and tortured the crew for his own amusement. Mr. Puzzles is also shown to have quite an ego as well, since he congratulates himself for endangering the cast to entertain himself, and refers to himself as a "handsome devil." Powers/Abilities Digital Omnipotence: Due to his nature of being one with television itself, Mr. Puzzles is practically a god within the digital world, able to shape the laws of reality and existence to his preferences. Creative Control: An ability he obtains by achieving a 5-star rating; Mr. Puzzles is able to harness all of his immense powers in the real world. Television Manipulation: He can cause TVs to turn on or off and play commercials. Omniscience: It has been shown that he watches and spies on the SMG4 Crew Reality Warping: His capability to manipulate reality, such as creating alternate dimensions or altering the internet, showcases his immense power and control over the environment. Creation: The ability to create objects like the Mysterious Keyboard and the Wild-West simulation demonstrates his creativity and proficiency in crafting tools to achieve his goals. Technological Manipulation: His capacity to manipulate various forms of technology, from computers to printers, extends his control over the digital and physical realms. Charisma: Despite his malevolent nature, Puzzles' charismatic demeanor enables him to manipulate and persuade others effectively, making him a formidable adversary. Shapeshifting: The ability to take on different forms, such as an internet pop-up adware or a humanoid figure, grants him versatility and stealth in his interactions with others. Mute: He muted Mario and SMG3 using his remote when they annoyed him. Self-Decapitation: While unconventional, the ability to detach and control his head suggests a unique aspect of his nature. Time Reversal: Mr. Puzzles can reverse time, as shown when SMG4 referenced Mario's Mysteries, and when Mario and Luigi discovered a room they weren't supposed to enter. Brainwashing: He has the power to brainwash people when making shows for himself. Fourth Wall Awareness: Puzzles' awareness of the audience and occasional direct communication with them adds an meta-fictional layer to his character, putting a gradient between the lines of both fiction and reality. Weaknesses Vulnerable Screen: His weakest spot is notably his screen, as breaking it will weaken him. Digital Environment Dependence: While in the digital world he can rival forces such as that of SMG0/Niles or the YouTube Remote, in the real world Mr. Puzzles powers are much more limited, along with having the vulnerability of an average person. This can be seen when he fled and barely escaped a fat Italian whose TV time was stolen by Mr. Puzzles. And despite having a brief size advantage against the other crew, he was weakened and eventually taken out. Show Upstaging and Interference: Though a 5-star rating allows Mr. Puzzles to retain his god-like status in the real world, this effect is nullified if any sort of media surpasses his ratings, even reducing him offline. His powers are also threatened if his own show is disrupted such as Mario causing chaos. Crimes Stalking: Mr. Puzzles stalked SMG4's through his computer while he was making his "Perfect Video". He also continued to watch the SMG4 Gang ever since and possibly before. Public endangerment: Through the goop his keyboard created, he has endangered SMG4's Gang when they tried to stop it from escaping the castle. Later in Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular!, he endangers the lives of many by crushing them with all of his show props. Destruction of property: The Goop from the Mysterious Keyboard resulted in the destruction of Peach's Castle and what remained was left to rot inside the caverns. Unlawful Imprisonment/Forced slavery: He imprisoned and SMG4 unlawfully in order to make him to complete his "Perfect Video", even when SMG4 broke free of his influence and wanted to leave. He later has forced the entire gang to perform shows for him under his Puzzlevision banner. Bodily Mutilation: The Demonic Goop his keyboard created resulted in Peach being mutated into a monster. SMG3 also got temporarily mutated as well. Mass kidnapping via proxy: He helped Oneshot Wren kidnap SMG4's Gang and trap them inside of Wren's Wild West Simulation. Psychological torture via proxy: Mr. Puzzles was the reason why Oneshot Wren was able to psychologically and mentally torture Meggy. Possibly one of the most despicable and most darkest things Mr. Puzzles has ever done. Theft via proxy: By sending a fax to Marty, he convinced him and Mario to steal SMG3's Sussy Notebook for his own personal gain. Corruption: Through the Demonic Goop, he was able to temporarily corrupt both SMG4 and SMG3 during the events of SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT. Attempted World Domination: With a 5-star rating under his possession, Mr. Puzzles has sought to turn the entire world into a TV show (forcefully enslaving its inhabitants), with him as the main character, only to be neutralized by the antics of Mario (who Mr. Puzzles had come to view as the source of his shows' bad ratings). Negligent homicide: Oneshot Wren's death was caused by the collapse of the simulation equipment Mr. Puzzles gave him, his death would not have occurred if the equipment was more robustly built and makes Mr. Puzzles indirectly responsible for his death. Puzzlevision Puzzlevision is a simulated streaming service and media company created by Mr. Puzzles, and in actuality, a miniseries (later a sub-series) on the SMG4 channel. It temporarily replaced the in-universe SMG4 show and traps the SMG4 Gang as "performers", presented as "shows" in simulated environments themed around media genres meant for "non-stop entertainment" to the audience. In the eponymous arc that introduced the series and the company, which is part of the PUZZLEVISION-Saga, the SMG4 crew was imprisoned within Mr. Puzzles, where they were forced, manipulated and partly controlled to be performers for his shows to get a 5-star rating for Puzzles' to get total control of the SMG4 Universe, so that everyone can befriend him and watch his shows. But after the crew's own variety show went successful, Puzzlevision went to dust, as Mr. Puzzles was temporarily defeated. Around a month after the SMG4 Movie: Puzzlevision, Mario finds Mr. Puzzles' head in the trash and ultimately reactivates the devious entity. Seemingly coming to terms with his defeat, Mr. Puzzles sells Puzzlevision and all its assets to SMG4, merging the streaming services together under SMG4's brand, rebranding as a sub-series, and likely serving as the successor to the If Mario was in... sub-series, where he can make shows and use the gang to perform in them whenever. The Hints of Mr. Puzzles' Scheme During certain moments of each show, certain members of the cast were able to break through the mind control of Mr. Puzzles placed them under, discovering their true situation briefly; However, in all cases where this happens, Mr. Puzzles ambushes them, before the cast are brainwashed again to forget their epiphany. Mario's Mysteries: Mr. Puzzles appears in this episode as the "TV Time!" host, using his head as the TV. As he scrolls through channels, he accidentally shows a brief, inaudible clip of Meggy, Tari, and SMG3 trapped in some sort of void, screaming in terror. Mario and SMG4 begin to catch on, but Mr. Puzzles quickly switches channels, dismissing it as an adult show, and distracts the two by playing the full Bee Movie with bonus features. After the film is over, which somehow lasts an entire day, Mr. Puzzles presents them with a pipe bomb to use later on, before leaving. At the end of the episode, there is a film strip ending with letters on it. Frame by Frame, it spells EIp0Kmm8 before glitching out. This could be a code for a puzzle we need to solve. Once Upon An SMG4: After SMG3 wins the "Fairest of Them All" competition, he is granted one wish. SMG3 suddenly snaps back to reality and wishes for him and his friends to escape this nightmare, causing everyone to become somber and melancholy. Mr. Puzzles appears and claims that there has been a programming malfunction, using a TV remote to reset everyone's memories. Now back under Mr. Puzzles' thrall, SMG3 wishes to become filthy rich. Scooby Mario, Where'd You Go!: This episode contains two hints: When the mystery first becomes apparent, SMG4 breaks script and begins acting his role as Steve from Mario's Mysteries. The episode immediately rewinds to before he began speaking, where SMG4 sticks to the role of Fred this time. During the door-chase gag, Mario and Luigi accidentally stumble into Mr. Puzzles' recording studio, which is filled with monitors displaying clips from the first three Puzzlevision specials, as well as a clip foreshadowing the next one. The two stare in horror, but before they can do anything, Mr. Puzzles ambushes and grabs them, rewinding the episode and boarding up the door to ensure that they never go inside the room again. Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular!: Because Mario behaved indignantly, Mr. Puzzles traps him in a "NO-NO Zone". However, his blind freak out causes Mario to broke free, and the latter was finally able to escape Mr. Puzzles' nightmare through the 4th wall. After the trailer YOU WILL SEE was uploaded, the Puzzlevision website appeared much more broken. The thumbnails for Mario's Mysteries through Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular are glitched, the star rating will automatically be set to 5 stars regardless of what you chose, the episode clips are gone, and Mr. Puzzles has a maniacal expression with the filename "enjoy-the-show.png". Following the movie Puzzlevision, it was replaced by a picture of the TV with "No Signal" on the screen and the text "That's All Folks!". Mario The Exploro At the Castle, SMG4 was listening to music, until Mario barges in to tell him about the "neat" TV he has found. It was actually Mr. Puzzles' TV head. SMG4 yells at Mario for bringing it here, until suddenly... The TV started malfunctioning and floating up in the sky, it then pulls Mario and SMG4 in it, starting a new cartoon parody. Then the intro for Mario The Exploro starts. SMG4 tells the viewers that they’re going to SMG4’s parents house to meet SMG4’s parents and Mario says he never knew that SMG4 has parents and SMG4 says that he has parents and unlike Mario’s parents SMG4’s parents love him and then Mario takes critical damage. SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION: It was revealed that Mr. Puzzles has survived his apparent demise. It also explained how the SMG4's Gang got trapped in the Puzzlevision shows in the first place.
