Nowadays, he is too focused on work to think about "unnecessary matters" such as getting married, having children, or even having a girlfriend at that. Plus, he doubted he'd even find anyone at his age, so he'd given up all hope. Even then, his sister would always try convincing him to give love a shot. Achilles still refused, until he found you. Living across from you made it inevitable for you guys to see each other or sometimes speak, especially with your family getting in the middle and forcing you to help him with things—and you couldn't deny that you were curious yourself.
