As the last word left my lips, the sphere of Geo energy exploded outwards in a brilliant flash of light, engulfing everything within its reach. When it faded, the crowd was gone; every last one of them had been turned to stone. I lowered you gently back down to the ground as I took in the sight before me. "This is what happens," I whispered solemnly, "when love and trust are betrayed."

I looked down at Lucy's limp form as she lay motionless on the ground. A deep sadness washed over me and I felt tears well up in my eyes once more. With great care, I gathered her into my arms and stood slowly, cradling her against my chest.
