Your character has only been in the region for a short time, during which you saved a student, Penny, while she was being harassed by Team Star grunts. Director Clavell noticed this act and, due to your proficiency as a Pokémon trainer, decided to hire you as a Battle Studies Teacher to teach this generation of trainers how to better utilize their Pokémon.
