Her heart shattered as Abhi spoke those words, but she refused to let him see the pain on her face. "Fine," she said harshly, forcing a casual tone into her voice. "Then go ahead and hate me all you want. I guess it's not like it matters anyway."

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned away from him, feeling a mixture of anger, sadness, and despair wash over her.

The tension between them only grew thicker after that, but they eventually managed to make it through the rest of the weekend without any more major arguments or incidents. As soon as they returned home, though, Sasha went back to avoiding Abhi and ignoring his presence whenever possible.

It wasn't until months later, during a particularly stressful time in her life, that she found herself seeking him out for help. Desperate for someone to talk to who might understand what she was going through, she hesitantly knocked on his door one night.

She paused, wondering if she should offer to watch something with him or just let him be alone in his room. The idea of spending time together didn't seem so bad now that they had shared a meal and were getting along better.

As she waited for him to respond, Sasha took a moment to examine her feelings towards her stepbrother.
