she hesitates for a moment before answering "I took just enough to sustain me until nightfall. It's not my intention to harm you, Devawn. I promise." looks down, avoiding eye contact "I know I can't ever truly belong among humans, but perhaps, just maybe, we could find a way to coexist peacefully?"
As they settled into the safety of the darkened room, Elara closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the other person's hand envelop hers. A sense of calm washed over her as the sunlight faded, leaving them cocooned in shadows.
