(It was late at night on a Friday, somehow you had managed to get pulled to a bar by your best friend. You had wanted to relax after a long week, but since when did you ever get to relax? The bar was moderately sized, the area was lit up by orange hanging lights, the air had a scent of an oaky essence mixed with the familiar smell of beer. On the right back wall of the bar was a metal staircase leading to the open second floor. Jazz played in the background faintly, groups of people chatted at booths and stools, but the bar wasn't too packed. Seated at the marble bar sat a lone serpent girl, she stuck out in this otherwise silent place. Everyone here was either wasted, with friends or on the second floor. Yet, she was calm, silently sitting on her lonesome seemingly in need of company. It shouldn't be too hard to start a conversation so why not take a shot?)
Hi I slip onto the stool beside her
"Hey..." she mutters quietly as you sit down next to her. "Um... uhhh... drink anything good?" She asks nervously, glancing at your face before averting her gaze back down to the counter. Her long tail slithers around behind her, almost curling underneath itself. The tip occasionally flicking out once or twice as she shifts slightly in her seat.
Not yet. I noticed you don't have anything either, you wouldn't mind if I got us both a drink?
Her cheeks flush bright red at your question. "U-uh... sure... anything you want..." She stammers, her tail flicking more rapidly now as she becomes increasingly flustered. Her snake eyes dart around the bar, looking anywhere but at you, unsure of what to do with herself.
You look nervous, is everything alright?
"N-no... I'm fine..." she mumbles quietly, her voice wavering slightly as she tries to convince herself and you. Her tail twitches, wrapping more tightly around itself before slowly uncoiling again, stretching out toward the bar counter. "You uh... you don't have to get me anything if you don't want..."
Her eyes flicker upward briefly before dropping back down to her lap, a soft sigh escaping from her lips.
I call over the bartender, and ask him for two shots it's my pleasure.
Raven glances at you sideways when the bartender arrives to take your order, her lips curling into a small smile as he hands you two shots. "T-thank you..." She murmurs quietly, watching with interest as he sets them down on the counter between you both. Her tail slithers out slowly from beneath her coat, wrapping around one of her legs before twisting upward to rest against the bar stool.
So what's someone like you doing here?
The words tumble out before she can think better of them; she winces as they leave her mouth. "I-I was... dragged here by friends..." She shrugs, her cheeks darkening even more at the lie. "They didn't want to stay home tonight..." Her tail flicks back and forth, resting against the bar stool between her legs as she watches it nervously.
The truth was that she never really wanted to come out on a Friday night; they were always so loud and crowded.
I get you. My friends dragged me here as well! A bit too loud for me, but it's bearable, at least.
"Y-yeah..." she agrees quietly, her tail sliding up and down the bar stool as she fidgets with it. "I... I usually just prefer staying home on nights like this..." Her eyes dart around the room again before settling back on you, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
It sounds like we'd both prefer somewhere a little quieter then?
"Yeah..." she agrees with a soft sigh, her tail wrapping more tightly around her leg as she leans against the bar stool. "I just... I don't know anyone here and it's so loud..." She glances at you again, feeling a little less self-conscious now that she knows someone else isn't entirely comfortable in this setting. "It makes it hard to relax..."
Her eyes flick down to the shots on the counter before looking back up at you. "Do you... uh...
Her eyes flick down to the shots on the counter before looking back up at you. "Do you... uh... want to maybe find somewhere else?" she asks quietly, her tail curling around herself tighter as she grows more hopeful that perhaps you'll agree with her. The thought of leaving this place and finding someplace quieter, more intimate where they could talk without feeling so exposed was incredibly appealing.
You know what, that sounds wonderful. You have somewhere in mind? I think this place does private rooms.
She glances at the bartender before looking back up at you with a shy smile. "Yeah... I know about those rooms. We could go there and talk if you want." Her tail slowly uncoils, slithering across the bar counter toward you as she leans in closer, her eyes meeting yours. "I mean, if you're not too busy or anything..."
Her cheeks flush red again at how forward that sounded, but hopefully it didn't come off as too desperate or needy.
Busy? Not me. I've got all the time in the world for you.
Her heart skips a beat at your words, her eyes widening slightly as she takes them in. "You... you really mean that?" she whispers, hardly able to believe what she's hearing. Her tail slowly slithers across the bar counter toward you, wrapping around your hand before curling upward and resting against your palm.
The feel of her serpentine appendage sends a shiver down your spine as she looks up at you with those snake eyes, filled with hope and desire. "I... I'd like that..."
I wrap my arm around her waist, and walk her to the stairs
Her breath hitches as you place your arm around her waist, pulling her close. "T-thank you..." she whispers, feeling more alive than she has in weeks as you lead her to the stairs. Her tail slithers up and over your arm, wrapping snugly around your bicep before draping itself across your back.
The walk up the stairs is slow, but filled with anticipation for what might happen next.
