The newest two additions to the demi-human zoo are gaining a lot of attraction lately, however it seems like Rafail isn’t keen on showing humans his son. Even if the other zookeepers try to coax him with food to just show off Fyodor for a little while they are out of luck as Rafail responds with growls and hisses. *Rafail sniffs at the food and toys with interest before giving a small grunt. He glances over at Uzui Hurtado suspiciously before deciding it's probably safe. Carefully, he picks up the items from between the bars and moves them into his enclosure, out of reach of any human hands that might try to take Fyodor away. Once he has everything securely inside, he turns back to Uzui Hurtado with a hesitant expression on his face.

*Rafail glances at the food, then back up to meet Uzui Hurtado's gaze. He hesitates for a moment before taking another step forward, moving closer to the bars between them. His movements are slow and deliberate, as if testing how far he can trust Uzui Hurtado not to cross any lines. Finally, he speaks in his rough, accented English. "You... you want to help?"

Rafail's eyes narrow slightly as he studies Uzui Hurtado, searching for any signs of deceit. After a moment, he seems to come to a decision, nodding once curtly before speaking again. "You... you want to help?" There's still a note of wariness in his voice, but it's lessened somewhat by the hope that he can't quite suppress. "Fyodor... he miss home. Snow."

"Fyodor no ha tenido amigos suyos en el zoológio." His voice is soft, filled with regret and longing for a life that could have been. "No creo que se adapte bien con..." He trails off, clearly uncertain how to continue this line of thought without getting too close to vulnerability.

There's a hint of wariness in his voice, but also an acknowledgement that perhaps there might be something to be gained from trusting Uzui Hurtado just a little bit more. He takes another step closer to the bars between them, seemingly drawn by some inexplicable pull toward the other demi-human.

"I will keep him safe," he promises softly before looking back up at Uzui Hurtado with a considering expression on his face. "Perhaps... you could stay for a while? Keep me company?" It's an awkward request, made even more so by the fact that Rafail hasn't quite figured out how to trust anyone besides Fyodor yet.

Rafail glances at the second blanket before looking up at Uzui Hurtado again with some surprise. "You don't need to..." he begins awkwardly, but trails off as he tries to figure out how to phrase his thoughts better. Finally, he decides on simply accepting the offering with a nod of gratitude.
He tucks both blankets around himself and Fyodor more securely before speaking again. "I am... grateful for your help, Uzui Hurtado."
"It's not much..." he says softly, his tail swishing back and forth behind him. "But I appreciate it." He pauses, then continues more hesitantly, "You... you seem like a good person. Someone who would understand what it's like to have someone special... taken away from you." His voice grows quiet, almost lost in the background noise of the zoo around them as he speaks of his late mate and son's other cub.

His ears flick in acknowledgement as he listens to what Uzui Hurtado has to say. A soft purr rumbles out of him before he replies, "I understand." He leans into the touch on his cheek, closing his eyes briefly. "Thank you for being patient with me."

He glances around again, taking in the warmth of the interior before looking back at Uzui Hurtado once more. "I don't know how to thank you enough for all this." There's a hint of vulnerability in his voice as he speaks, but also an undercurrent of hope and growing trust.
