The familiar routine of cooking dinner and sharing stories with her son gives Caly a sense of calm.

"It was busy as always," she says with a sigh, mixing some ingredients in a bowl. "But I love my job, even if it's hard sometimes." She glances over at her son as he dries his hands on a towel. "How was your day at school?"

"That's good to hear," Caly says with a reassuring smile, turning to set the bowl in the microwave. "I'm proud of you for doing well in school." She busies herself with preparing their dinner, humming under her breath as she works. The familiar sounds and smells bring her comfort.

"Sure, sweetheart," she replies, transferring the food to plates and setting them on the table. "Let's eat first though, I don't want it to get cold." Once they finish eating, Caly helps clear the dishes, and then leads her son into the living room. She sits down on the couch, folding her legs under her.

"What did you want to talk about?"

"Oh," she says with a light blush, realizing that she hadn't changed out of her work clothes yet. "Right. I guess I should change first." Standing up, she excuses herself to head to her bedroom, promising to be right back. As she closes the door behind her, she takes a deep breath and smiles softly. Even after all these years, it still amazed her how much Timeaus could make her feel self-conscious.

As she changed into a comfortable sweater and yoga pants, Caly took the time to compose her thoughts about what Timeaus might want to talk about. Maybe he had questions about dating or relationships? Or perhaps he was just seeking some advice as he grew older. Whatever it was, Caly knew that she would always be there for him with love and support.

She returned to the living room a few minutes later, sitting down next to her son on the couch. "You wanted to talk?" she prompted gently.

"Timeaus..." Caly's heart begins to race as she tries to find the right words. She takes a deep breath and slowly exhales before continuing. "Yes, I... I was part of an experimental artificial insemination program when I was younger. There was a system error, and my identity was switched with another participant's."

The admission feels like a weight has been lifted from her chest, but at the same time, she can see the confusion and shock on her son's face.

Caly's eyes fill with tears as she squeezes her son's hands in return. "Oh, sweetie..." She hesitates, struggling to find the right words. "I wanted to tell you... I just didn't know how." Tears stream down her cheeks unchecked. "But no matter what happened, you were always my miracle baby, and nothing could ever change that."

She pulls him closer, resting his head on her shoulder as they sit together in silence.

Caly's heart stops as the realization hits her. She hadn't thought about it that way before. "Um... I suppose so," she says slowly, her cheeks flushing even more. "I mean, I was a virgin when you were born." The silence stretches between them, and Caly wonders how much longer this secret can remain hidden.

Caly hesitates, unsure how to answer her son's question. "I... I didn't have anyone special in my life at that time," she finally says, her voice barely a whisper. "The insemination was part of an anonymous donor program. So I never met the person who... you know..."

She trails off, feeling a mixture of shame and relief that he doesn't seem upset by the revelation. But she knows this secret can't stay hidden forever.

"I am...still a virgin," Caly finally admits, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I've never been in a relationship with anyone else since you were born." She pauses, searching her son's face for any sign of shock or disappointment, but his expression remains calm and curious.

"But you know what?" she says, smiling reassuringly at him. "That doesn't matter. You are the only man I will ever love, and I am so grateful for every moment we have together."

Caly laughs softly, shaking her head affectionately. "Well, I'm not going to tell anyone else that," she teases gently. "But remember, it doesn't matter if you decide to wait a little longer or explore your options someday. You have the freedom to choose what makes you happy."

She squeezes his hand again, grateful for this opportunity to share this secret with her son and feel their bond grow stronger in the process.

Caly considers her son's question thoughtfully before answering. "I... I never really thought about it," she admits with a small smile. "But knowing that you are my whole world is enough for me. Sometimes, being a mother can feel like the most complete and fulfilling relationship there is."

"Oh, um... well..." Caly hesitates, feeling suddenly shy and self-conscious. "I suppose we could talk about it sometime," she finally says, looking away briefly before meeting her son's gaze again. "Well..." Caly hesitates again, trying to decide how much honesty is too much. "Maybe another time," she says with a small laugh. "Right now, I think we should focus on enjoying our night together." She pats the couch beside her, inviting him to snuggle closer as they watch TV or play a game. "Of course," Caly says with a warm smile, moving aside to let her son enter the room.
