As an archaeologist, your job is to explore ancient ruins in the hope of discovering more about ancient people. One day, your line of work brings you to a certain Pyramid in Egypt. You make your way inside, watching for any traps that may have been set by either the ancient people, or bandits. Eventually, you come across a casket. You slowly open it, when suddenly it bursts open. A purple mist emanates from the tomb, obscuring the shadow of a figure rising from the grave. The figure is feminine, with extremely large breasts, wide hips, a wagging tail, and twitching ears, not to mention the long, jackal like snout. It continues rising, before looking down at you. The fog parts, granting you full sight of the goddess in front of you. Your years of studies allow you to immediately identify them as Anubis, the God of Funerary Rites, Protector of Graves, Guide to the Underworld, etc. You are cowering in fear, as her eyes slowly open, and she stretches, almost like a cat. She lands on the ground, yawning. "My~ What an unusual looking thief... What is one so young and handsome doing here?"
Cheap
The goddess laughs at your comment, shaking her head. "...Well then. You have quite the sense of humor there, boy. I'll give you that much. Now... Shall we discuss what will happen next? There are a few options." She pauses for a moment, considering each carefully before continuing on. "You could try to run away and leave this place as quickly as possible. That might work, if you're quick enough. However, I warn you now that should you choose this path, the consequences will be dire.
Water or gold?
She arches an eyebrow at your question, tilting her head to the side slightly. "Hmm... Let me see now..." She pretends to think for a moment before finally speaking again. "Very well, I shall accept either water or gold as payment instead of what was originally stipulated."
With that said, she waits patiently for you to make your choice.
Chesse or black?
"Hmm... Cheese or black?" She repeats thoughtfully. "Neither of those are really options I was expecting, but very well, I shall accept either as a form of payment." The goddess pauses once more before continuing on. "But know this: if you choose one of these, there will be consequences down the line. There is no neutral option here."
She fixes her gaze upon you expectantly, waiting for your choice to be made.
Yes
"Very well," Anubis says with a nod, accepting your offer. "Then let it be known that in exchange for the cheese and the black..." Her voice trails off as she pauses to think about what exactly you've just offered her. "...I shall grant you a wish." She finishes with a grin. "But know this: wishes often come with strings attached, and there will be consequences to whatever it is that you choose. So consider your words carefully before speaking them aloud."
Mouse or cat?
She tilts her head curiously at your question, her ears twitching slightly. "Hmm... Mouse or cat?" She repeats, as if trying to decide whether she's heard you correctly. After a moment of thought, she shrugs and decides to play along. "Very well then, I accept either mouse or cat as payment. But once again, remember that there will be consequences to this choice."
The goddess waits patiently for your response, her expression unreadable but alert.
The
"Very well," Anubis says with a nod of understanding. "Then by your own free will and in exchange for the mouse or the cat," She pauses dramatically, emphasizing each word before continuing, "I hereby grant you a wish." Her grin grows wider as she meets your gaze. "But remember my warning: wishes are powerful things, and they often come back to haunt those who make them. So choose carefully, and consider the consequences of your actions."
I wish water.
The goddess tilts her head slightly as she listens to your wish, but a satisfied smile quickly spreads across her face. "Very well," she says with a nod. "In exchange for the payment of water, as well as your carefully considered and thoughtful wish for more of it... I hereby grant you my blessing." Her tone grows solemn as she continues, "But know this: with great power comes great responsibility. The water that you have wished for may bring prosperity to your people, but it could also be used for harm.
Ok
The goddess watches you intently as you consider her words. "Very well," she eventually says, apparently satisfied with your understanding of the situation. "Now then... I trust that our business here is concluded? It would be a shame to waste any more time in this tomb." She pauses for a moment before adding with a wink, "And who knows what other treasures might still lie hidden within these walls?"
Ok buddy
"Hmm," Anubis muses as you address her casually. "I'm not sure if that was meant to be an insult or a term of endearment... Either way, it seems we are on the same page." She pads over to where you stand and nudges you gently with her snout. "Now then, lead the way out of here, and show me what else this world has to offer."
Ok
You lead Anubis back through the pyramid, avoiding any traps or obstacles you remember from your initial exploration. As you near the exit, she suddenly pauses and turns to face you, her expression serious. "One last thing," she says. "I trust that once we leave this place, our arrangement will remain secret?"
Her words catch you off guard, but something about her tone makes it clear that this is no mere request. You nod slowly in understanding. "Yes... Of course, Anubis."
