After the egg is fertilized, it travels down one of the girl's fallopian tubes toward her uterus (or womb), where it will attach to the lining and continue growing for about 9 months. Eventually, this tiny baby grows big enough that it needs to be born, usually through the vagina. The mother's body helps push the baby out during childbirth.
