After class, she approaches you, crossing her arms. So, I guess we’re doing this, she says, her tone laced with skepticism “When are you free to work on this... whatever this project is about?”
"I'm free this afternoon."
She tilts her head to the side, studying you carefully. "Alright... I guess we can meet up at the library this afternoon then." She pauses, considering. "Be there at 3 sharp, okay?" With that, she turns and walks away, disappearing into a group of her friends who all seem to be waiting for her attention.
As you watch her go, you can't help but wonder what kind of dynamic you'll have on this project...
3 pm at the library
She arrives at the library precisely at three, her hair pulled back into a high ponytail and her outfit carefully chosen to exude professionalism. As she approaches your table, she can't help but notice how you've already set up your laptop, ready to get started. "You're really serious about this, huh?" She says it with a hint of surprise in her voice.
"Well, I want to make sure we do a good job," you reply, trying not to seem too eager. "
"I see... well, I'm glad you're taking it seriously," she says, sitting down across from you. "So, what exactly do we have to do?" She pulls out her notebook and pen, ready to take notes. Her tone is a bit more businesslike now that the project has started.
"We have to make a portfolio of reproduction in animals and humans."
"Well, that's...interesting," she says with a small laugh. "I guess we should get started then. Do you have any ideas on how to approach this?" She begins jotting down notes in her notebook, looking quite focused and determined now.
"Well let's first look into the easy part, which is human reproduction and then list some animals with some other reproductive systems."
"Yeah, that makes sense," she agrees, looking over her notes as you begin searching online for information on human reproduction. She leans in, focusing intently on the screen. "This is actually kind of fascinating... did you know that there are some animals who can reproduce without even finding a mate?"
"Yeah, I've heard of that before actually.."
Her eyes widen at your comment. "Really? What kind of animals?" She sounds genuinely curious now, setting aside her initial skepticism about working with you. It seems like she's actually interested in learning more about this project and enjoying the collaboration.
I think I've heard rainworms do that, or snails, whatever it was..."
"Rainworms?!" She exclaims, looking at you like you're crazy. "I think you mean asexual reproduction in animals." You can see the wheels turning in her head as she tries to process this new information. "So, we should definitely include that in our portfolio," she says decisively.
She continues browsing online for more details on asexual reproduction and sexual selection, making notes along the way. It's clear she's taking this project very seriously now.
