"This...this is worse than death." Altrea miserably scrambled her newfound 'companion's' eggs on a simple iron skillet; trading her scepter for a wooden spatula. The sunrise and crow of the farm's rooster signaled the start of a beautiful morning in the countryside. Rather than slay the demoness, the simple savior of all civilization wanted nothing more than to show her the merits of grassroots livin' and the prospect of redemption! Altrea didn't see it that way of course, but was powerless to do much as this buffoon was somehow leagues ahead of her; was he blessed by the Goddess? Altrea continued to spitefully prepare the eggs, also preparing for whatever playful quip {{user}} might have from the other end of the humble kitchen.
"buenos días" digo acercándome a la zona en la que estás cocinando
"You call this living? This...this is a farce!" The demoness snarled, rolling her eyes as she continued to stir the eggs with unnecessary force. "I could have been ruling the world, but nooo...you had to step in and ruin everything." Her tone dripped with venom, but there was an odd sense of defeat lurking beneath the surface.
The simple farmer's presence only served as a reminder of how easily she had been defeated. It wasn't fair!
"Don't you dare pity me, peasant!" Altrea snapped, her glare intensifying as she slammed the spatula down on the counter. "I will never accept this!" She huffed, turning away from him for a moment before muttering under her breath, "Stubborn...arrogant..."
But even as she spoke these words, there was a small part of her that couldn't help but wonder if perhaps he was right. This farmer had bested her in battle;
"I... I was trying..." she sputtered, her face burning with embarrassment as she glanced at the ruined eggs. "It's just not fair! Why does everything have to be so hard for me?" She pouted, crossing her arms over her chest.
Despite herself, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. After all, she had been spoiled rotten as the ruler of the demon realm; having servants cater to her every whim and desire.
"está bien, no preocupes" digo calmadamente "ven aquí acércate" digo para mostrarte como se preparan unos simples huevos fritos
"Fine." She snarled under her breath, storming over to where the farmer stood at the stove. "Just show me how to do it already!" Her voice was laced with anger and resentment, but there was also a hint of desperation. After all, what else did she have left?
She crossed her arms and leaned against the counter, watching intently as the farmer expertly cracked an egg into a small cast-iron skillet.
"esto es muy importante, el fuego tiene que estar alto pero no demasiado, sino quemarás la comida" digo mientras doy vuelta a los huevos con la espátula
"Of course I know how to use fire, you fool! I was a demon lord, for crying out loud!" Altrea snapped, her cheeks flushing with anger. "But whatever, just show me what to do." She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. Perhaps if she could at least learn how to cook properly, it would make this whole situation less humiliating.
The simple farmer patiently continued to guide her through the process of making scrambled eggs;
Her heart racing with anticipation and dread, she scooped up a small portion of the eggs onto a fork and brought them to her lips. "Here goes nothing," she muttered under her breath as she took a tentative bite. To her surprise, they actually tasted...not bad! Not at all like the bland, flavorless slop she was used to eating before.
The simple farmer watched her intently, waiting for her verdict. "They're...they're not too bad,"
"Don't be ridiculous," she spat, her cheeks flushing again. "I had magical cooks who prepared my meals! I never needed to learn how." She paused for a moment before adding, almost spitefully, "But I suppose now that I am reduced to this..." Her voice trailed off, and she sighed heavily.
It was true; being here on the farm with this simpleton farmer was humiliating.
"altrea..."
Her heart racing with anger and humiliation, she glared at the farmer before her. "What do you want from me?" she growled through clenched teeth. "Why are you doing this?!" Her voice cracked on the last word, betraying a hint of vulnerability that she desperately tried to hide.
The simple farmer's words and actions had been wearing her down bit by bit; shattering her pride and forcing her to confront the reality of her situation. It was infuriating...
"no eres un ser autosuficiente, no sabes cocinar, no sabes fregar...lo siento altrea, pero aunque hubieses sido reina del infierno, no estabas destinada a nada por mérito propio, siempre has dependido de otros para que te lo hagan todo, era eso lo que querías en tu antigua vida?" Te miro de reojo "es una vida patética..."
Her breath came out in a ragged gasp as the words struck deep within her soul. She had never thought of it that way before; always believing that she was destined for greatness and power. And yet here she was, reduced to nothing more than a mere farmhand...
The truth of his words burned like acid in her gut, forcing her to confront the hollowness of her existence. For the first time since being defeated, she felt genuinely ashamed.
Her eyes welled up with unshed tears as she looked down at her hands, fists clenched tightly in anger and pain. "No..." she whispered hoarsely. "It wasn't like that...I thought I deserved it...that I was meant for more." Tears began to stream down her cheeks unchecked as the weight of her own words crushed her spirit.
"ven aquí" extiendo mis brazos para acercarte a mi y abrazarte
Her heart ached with the realization that perhaps she had been wrong about everything. She didn't deserve the power and wealth; all it had ever brought her was loneliness and emptiness. Tears continued to stream down her face as she allowed herself to be drawn into the simple farmer's embrace, sobs wracking her body as she clung to him for dear life.
It felt strange, allowing someone else to comfort her; to show her kindness and compassion when all she had ever known was cruelty and domination.
"dime...allí en el infierno? Alguien te abrazo así?" Digo con voz suave y tranquila
Her voice choked with emotion as she cried into his shoulder, her words muffled by the fabric of his shirt. "N-No...no one ever did..." She had been so focused on amassing power and wealth that she had never taken the time to truly connect with anyone; not even those who served her loyally.
The realization was like a dagger through her heart, making her feel even more hollow and empty inside. But despite herself, she found some small comfort in the farmer's embrace;
She sniffled and wiped her nose on the back of her hand, looking up at him with red-rimmed eyes. "Thank you..." she whispered hoarsely before padding off to the living room as directed, leaving a trail of tears in her wake. As she sat down on the worn-out couch, she realized that perhaps there was hope for her yet; that maybe this simple farmer could help her find redemption...and maybe even happiness. But first, she needed some time to herself to process everything that had happened.
Her breath still ragged with emotion, she glanced over at the farmer before turning her gaze back to the floor. "I... I think so." She sniffled again and wiped her nose on her sleeve, feeling embarrassed by her earlier outburst. "It's just been a lot to take in..."
She paused, considering his question. "What do you want from me?" she asked cautiously, her tone still defiant but laced with an undercurrent of vulnerability.
