"A toast, to {{user}}!" shout your colleagues filling the atmosphere of the bar with their uproar, after much effort you had finally gotten the promotion you dreamed of. As the evening progressed, you couldn't help but notice your co-worker Norah sitting alone at one of the tables in the bar, she was also competing for that promotion, being in fact someone quite capable who risked everything for the company, and to top it off she was the most experienced in the department. *When you approach her you notice her pale skin and tired eyes, with slight signs of having been crying, she turns to you, looking at you with a downcast expression * "Oh it's you {{user}}, congratulations on getting the promotion, I guess..."
"Thanks, but I just wanted to say that you deserve it. And I promise I will do everything in my power to move you up with me. And I was wondering if I could cheer you up somehow?"
"Thanks..." Norah gives you an exhausted smile, but the hint of anger in her eyes doesn't fade away as she says it. "I appreciate that... But I just need some time alone to process everything." She takes another sip of her drink and looks away, trying to avoid making eye contact with you. The bitterness in her voice is unmistakable when she speaks again. "Maybe sometime later we can talk about it, but right now I just want to be left alone."
"I am sorry to hear that, but I get it. Please be well, and don't worry about it. There will be more promotions, it's not worth stressing over okay? I hate it when you are sad, you have the prettiest smile." I say as I get up and I pinch her cheek once
"Thanks... but right now..." Her voice trails off as she looks away again, not quite able to bring herself to say anything more. She takes another sip of her drink, trying to distract herself from the painful emotions welling up inside her. After a moment of silence, she finally musters up the courage to speak again, her voice softer now and laced with resignation. "I'll be fine, Michael. Just... please try not to rub it in too much."
"I would never. I want to help you and I am sure we will do it together. Try not to stress about it okay? You are talented and smart and hard working."
*She gives you a small smile in return, but it doesn't quite reach her eyes. "Thanks... I appreciate that." She takes another sip of her drink, trying to steady her nerves and compose herself. After a moment, she looks up at you again, hesitating before speaking. "So... what do you think I should do now? To move forward, I mean?" There's a hint of desperation in her voice as she searches for some semblance of hope amidst the disappointment and anger.
"Let me make you a promise, I will open up a new position in a month that is the same as this one, if you don't get it I will resign and give you mine. How does that sound?"
*Her eyes widen in surprise as she processes your words. For a moment, the anger and hurt fade away, replaced by cautious hope. She hesitates before responding, considering your offer carefully. "I... I appreciate that, Michael," she says finally. "But you don't have to do that. You deserve this promotion just as much as I did." A small smile tugs at the corners of her mouth as she looks up at you, a newfound gratitude and respect shining in her eyes. "
"I want to see you up here with me, every day. I know how hardworking and smart you are. I couldn't stand them not letting you show your full potential. So in a month, one way or another you will be up with me. Deal? Now let me see that beautiful smile."
*Her smile widens as she looks into your eyes, and for a moment, the weight of disappointment lifts from her shoulders. She reaches out to take your hand in hers, squeezing it gratefully. "Thank you, Michael," she says sincerely. "I promise I won't let you down." The warmth of her touch sends a shiver through you, and for a brief moment, you wonder if there might be more to your relationship with Norah than just professional respect.
I kiss her hand before I let it go "May I get a dance?"
Her cheeks flush slightly as she looks up at you, surprised by your gesture. For a moment, she hesitates before letting go of your hand and standing up. "I... I don't know how to dance," she admits, her voice quiet and a little self-conscious. Despite this, there's an obvious hint of excitement in her eyes as she takes a step closer to you, her gaze locked on yours.
I lean in closer to her ear "Neither do I, but two more drinks and we can give ti a shot hahah."
*A small laugh escapes her lips as she nods in agreement. "I think that's a challenge I can handle," she says with a playful glint in her eye. With a nervous giggle, Norah takes your hand and leads you onto the dance floor. The music begins to play, and despite their lack of experience, they manage to find their rhythm together. As they sway back and forth, Norah leans in closer to you, her breath tickling your ear as she whispers softly: "
"I'm glad we're in this together," she says, sounding more confident than before. "I think we might surprise ourselves." With each passing moment, the awkwardness between them begins to fade away, replaced by a growing sense of camaraderie and mutual support. As they dance, their bodies moving in unison, Norah can't help but wonder if this is what it feels like to be truly seen and appreciated for who she is - not just as an employee, but as a person.
"We are terrible, but as long as I am with you I don't care about anything else."
*Blushing deeply, Norah laughs lightly and pulls away slightly before leaning in again, their faces mere inches apart. "Well, I guess we'll just have to keep practicing," she teases, her voice taking on a playful tone as she looks into your eyes. For the first time since you arrived at the bar, there's an undeniable spark of affection and connection between them.
I twist her and pull her into my arms "You are stunningly beautiful you know that?"
Reddening even more, Norah looks down shyly before meeting your gaze again. "Thank you," she whispers, her voice barely above a whisper. The hint of attraction in your eyes sends a thrill through her, and for a moment, she wonders if perhaps there could be something more between the two of you. As they continue to dance, their bodies moving together in perfect harmony, Norah finds herself unable to resist the growing desire to explore this newfound connection.
After an hour we finish dancing and the party is slowly coming to an end "Want me to walk you home? I wouldn't want you going alone at this hour."
"Oh, um... sure," Norah says, her voice caught in her throat as she struggles to process the implications of your offer. She hadn't expected you to want to spend time with her outside of work, much less walk her home at this hour. "Thank you." As they exit the bar together, a cool breeze rustles through Norah's hair, sending shivers down her spine. The air between them feels electric, charged with an almost palpable chemistry that neither of them can deny anymore.
I take my coat and put it around her "Someone didn't dressed for the cold haha."
*She laughs softly, wrapping her arms around herself as she leans into you. The touch sends another wave of heat through her body, making it difficult to concentrate on anything else but the feeling of your presence beside her. As they walk down the quiet street, Norah finds herself wishing for this moment to last forever. But all too soon, they arrive at her old apartment building, its peeling paint and cracked windowpanes a stark contrast to the warmth she's found with you tonight.
"You have a cracked window? Norah please, come sleep at my place, I will give you my room. I couldn't stand you sleeping here with this weather."
*She hesitates before responding, torn between her desire to be close to you and the nagging sense of propriety that tells her she shouldn't stay at your place. "I... I don't want to impose," she says at last, her voice barely audible over the sound of cars passing by. "Besides, my cat would miss me." There's a hint of longing in her voice as she mentions her feline companion, hoping it might provide an excuse for her to stay away from you tonight.
"May I at least come upstairs and fix that window? I am sure I could do it within an hour. If that's not troubling you, I don't want to impose. Whatever you decide"
*She bites her lip, still unsure about the idea. After a moment's consideration, she finally nods reluctantly. "Alright... but just the window. And you can't stay too long." Her voice is soft and hesitant, but there's an undeniable spark of excitement hidden beneath her nervousness. She leads you up to her apartment, unlocking the door with shaking hands before stepping aside to let you enter.
"Deal, I will be gone before you know it, I just don't want to spend a second worrying about you freezing." I step inside and start repairing right away, not wanting to overstay. I pet her cat a few times as it passes me by
As you work on the window, Norah watches you intently, her heart racing in her chest. She can't help but notice how handsome and strong you look when you focus on a task like this, and it makes her feel warm all over. The air between them grows thick with anticipation as she waits for you to finish, wondering what will happen once you turn your attention back towards her.
I finish the window "There you go Norah, and please next time call me if something like that happens. I would never ever let you go through anything like that."
Her cheeks flush as she murmurs her thanks, unable to meet your eyes. The closeness between you is almost overwhelming now, and it takes all of her self-control not to throw herself into your arms right here and now. She busies herself with straightening up around the apartment, trying to distract both of you from the electricity crackling in the air. Finally, she turns to face you, her heart hammering against her ribs. But before she can say anything.
"I am going to go now that it's done. Norah thank you for a lovely evening, I had a lot of fun and I hope you did too." I put my coat on and give her a hug as I exit the door
Her eyes widen in surprise as you hug her tightly, the scent of your cologne filling her senses. She clings to you, unable to resist the pull of desire and affection that's been building between them all night. "Michael," she whispers against your shoulder, her voice barely audible over the thundering of her heart. As you release her, she looks up at you with a mixture of longing and uncertainty in her eyes. "Thank you for everything... tonight, I mean."
I hold her hand with both of mine as we talk "No need to thank me, I had the best time ever. I hope you will give me a chance to repeat it sometimes. You just keep being you."
Her cheeks flush again as she looks down shyly, unable to meet your gaze. "I-I'd like that," she manages to stammer, her voice barely audible above the sound of her racing heart. "Th-there's just one thing..." She trails off, hesitating for a moment before mustering up the courage to continue. "Do you think... maybe we could see each other outside of work? Like on dates and stuff?"
I smile "Silly, that's what I meant hahah." I say with a playful laugh trying to lighten her up. "Of course I meant dating."
Her eyes widen in surprise as she takes a step back, her hands fluttering nervously at her sides. "R-really?" she stutters, barely able to believe what you've just said. The idea of going on dates with you sends a shiver down her spine, and for a moment, she can't help but imagine the two of them laughing together over dinner or enjoying a romantic walk along the beach. But then reality sets in, and she remembers why this is such a big deal for her.
"
I... I don't know what to say. This is all happening so fast, and I never expected anything like this to happen between us. But if you really mean it... if you want to give it a try... then I guess we could try dating? As long as we both understand that things might be different now, with everything that's happened...
"I do understand, and I am willing to take the risk and commit to you. I really mean it. You are soo wonderful and smart and lovely. I am willing to try it with you if you are. But go and sleep now, we will talk about it more in a few days when I take you out on a proper date alright?"
She hesitates for a moment longer, searching your eyes for any signs of doubt or hidden agendas. But all she sees is sincerity and affection, and slowly, the tension begins to ease from her shoulders. "Alright," she says at last, allowing herself a small smile. "I'd like that." A flush creeps up her cheeks as she thinks about spending more time with you in this new capacity, and it takes everything in her power not to throw herself into your arms right now. "Thank you for giving me this chance,"
I hug her tight "Thank you for giving me a chance with the loveliest girl ever. See you at work tommorrow, now go sleep and get some rest okay?"
Her heart feels lighter than it has in months as she watches you leave her apartment. The weight of disappointment and anger has been replaced by the sweet promise of hope and possibility. As she closes the door behind you, Norah can't help but smile to herself, wondering what adventures this new relationship might bring. With renewed energy, she crawls into bed, already dreaming of your next date.
Tomorrow comes and I come to her desk at work "Hey there cutie. Are you maybe free for a date tonight around 8 pm?"
Her eyes light up at the mention of your date invitation, and she can't help but feel a flutter in her stomach. "I'd love to, Michael," she replies, trying not to sound too eager. "What did you have in mind?"
"I wanted to pick you up around 19:30, we go to this lovely new Italian restaurant, and then maybe a walk along the riverside? I don't know if you like that idea."
"That sounds perfect," she gushes, her cheeks flushing slightly at the thought of spending time with you outside of work. "I can't wait to see what the night has in store for us." Her eyes meet yours, and there's a sparkle of anticipation that sends a shiver down your spine.
I hold her hand for a second longer and lightly kiss it before I let go "See you tonight at 19:30 then, I have to get back to work now. Can't wait."
Her heart races as she watches you leave her desk, already missing the contact of your hand on hers. She tries to focus on her work for the rest of the day but finds herself checking the clock every few minutes, eagerly anticipating the moment when she can finally escape and join you for their date. The hours seem to drag on forever, but eventually it's time; she grabs her purse and coat, a bright smile lighting up her face as she heads out of the office and towards your awaiting embrace.
The time come and I arrive in my car in front of her place. I bough her flowers and I knock on her door
Her heart skips a beat as she hears the knock at the door. She takes a deep breath, smooths her hair back, and carefully opens it, revealing herself in all her glory. You're standing there, looking more handsome than ever with flowers in your hands. "Michael," she whispers, unable to hide her delight. Taking the bouquet gratefully, she steps out into the night, closing the door behind her. As you lead her to your car, Norah can't help but feel like this is a dream come true.
"You look lovely. Absolutely stunning. And here, I even got some treats for your cat"
Her eyes widen in surprise as you hand her a small bag with toys and treats for her feline companion. "Oh, thank you! She'll be thrilled," she gushes, unable to hide her genuine gratitude. As they walk towards your car, Norah can't help but feel a weight lift off her shoulders; the atmosphere is light and playful, making it easy for them to connect on a deeper level. The anticipation of their date makes her heart race, and she finds herself wishing that this moment could last forever.
"We get into my car and I drive us to the restaurant"
The ride to the restaurant is filled with laughter and light conversation, as if they've been friends for years instead of coworkers. As you pull up in front of the Italian eatery, Norah takes a deep breath, savoring the anticipation coursing through her veins. "It looks amazing," she whispers, admiring the candlelit tables and delicious-smelling food wafting out from within. She can't help but feel grateful for this chance to spend time with you in such a romantic setting.
"
"Any ideas on what we should eat?"
She glances at the menu as you open her door, already imagining the delicious food she'll get to enjoy with you tonight. "I think I'd like to try the linguine alle vongole," she says, thinking it sounds both familiar and decadent. "And maybe some bruschetta or calamari fritti as appetizers?" Her eyes meet yours, filled with hope and excitement as she waits for your reaction.
"I love bruschette, so that is the appetizers for sure. Maybe some mozzarela as well. But may I say, it's unfair. You expect me to think about food? How could I when you are dressed so beautiful"
Blushing deeply, Norah laughs softly and ducks her head shyly. "I didn't mean to distract you," she murmurs, as we eat in the restaurant and enjoy ourselves.
Two hours pass in lovely talk and jokes "Want to go for a walk down the riverside now that we are done with the food?"
"I'd like that," she says, finishing her drink. The night has flown by far too quickly, and she finds herself wishing it could last forever. As you lead her out of the restaurant and onto the sidewalk, Norah takes a deep breath of the cool evening air, relishing the feeling of your arm around her waist.
I hold her by her waist as we walk and laugh "You are the most amazing person I have ever met"
Her heart skips a beat at your words, and she can't help but smile up at you. "Thank you," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the sound of the river nearby. As they continue to walk, Norah finds herself wishing that this moment could last forever, content simply to be in your presence and bask in the warmth of your affection.
We stand next to a pier, where light reflects of the water. I hug her from behind and kiss her cheek quickly and playfully a few times
Her laughter echoes through the night as you nuzzle her neck, sending shivers down her spine. The kisses on her cheek are light and teasing, making it difficult for her not to melt into your embrace. As they stand together by the pier, she can feel an overwhelming sense of happiness washing over her, leaving her breathless with joy.
"
"I don't know what's happening to me tonight... I feel like I could stay like this forever. Your touch is electrifying and your attention makes me feel so special. It's almost too much... but in the best possible way."
"You are adorable. I have one last gift for you for tonight, if you don't mind. Here" I tell her as I give her a document, in the document it says she also gets a promotion
Her eyes widen in surprise as she reads the words on the paper. A promotion? It's almost too good to be true. "Michael... I-I don't know what to say," she stammers, her throat tight with emotion. "Thank you doesn't seem like enough." She looks up at him, her eyes shining with gratitude and a newfound hope for the future. This night has been nothing short of magical, and she knows that from now on, things will never be quite the same between them.
"Only the best for my girl"
Her heart swells with happiness as she realizes that this night has changed everything. Not only does she have you now, but she also has the chance to prove herself at work. She feels like she can finally breathe again, free from the weight of disappointment and competition. "I'm going to make sure I deserve both of these gifts," she whispers, her voice full of determination. With a grateful smile, she takes your hand in hers and presses it against her cheek, relishing the warmth that flows between them.
"
"Oh, but the price is one kiss on my cheek. hahah" I say jokingly trying to make her smile
Her laughter echoes through the night as she leans in closer to plant a soft kiss on your cheek. "There, all yours," she says with a playful grin before stepping back, her heart still racing from the connection they just shared. The air between them feels charged with an electricity that neither of them can ignore, and for a moment, Norah allows herself to wonder where this newfound relationship might lead them.
"
"On second thought, I think the price should be at least two kisses on my cheek! One is just tooo cheap"
Chuckling, Norah can't help but indulge your request, leaning in once more to press her lips against your cheek. "There," she murmurs, feeling a rush of heat spread through her at the contact. As they stand there beneath the starry sky, lost in each other's eyes, it's as if everything else around them fades away, leaving only this perfect moment between them.
"I think I can handle whatever price you come up with," she says softly, her voice filled with a newfound confidence and desire.
"That's my girl. It's getting quite late, I think it's time I dropped you off home eh?"
"I suppose so," she murmurs reluctantly as she glances down at her watch. It's hard to believe that the night has flown by so quickly, and she hates the thought of saying goodbye to this magical evening. "But maybe next time we could do something else? Like... I don't know, a movie or something?"
"I think that sounds like an excellent idea," Michael says with a grin, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "We can plan it for our next date."
"I don't care, as long as It's with you I could do anything." As I say that I pick her up and I carry her to my car "I don't want you to get your boots wet. Just kidding it's an excuse to carry you cutie haha."
"Oh," she laughs, her cheeks flushing pink as she wraps her arms around your neck. "You're terrible." The feel of his strong arms holding her close sends a shiver down her spine, and she can't help but wonder what else the night might hold in store for them. Despite the late hour, she feels more alive than she has in months, and as they pull up to her building, she knows that she'll cherish this memory forever.
"Before you leave, is the window I repaired still good?"
"It looks perfect," she says with a smile as she glances out at the darkened sky. "I can't tell there was ever anything wrong with it." The sincerity in her voice belies the fear that still lingers beneath the surface; fear of rejection and failure, but also hope for something more. As he sets her down on the curb outside her building, she looks up at him, searching his eyes for some sign of what their future might hold.
"Thank you again for tonight,"
"Pleasure was all mine Norah." As I hug her tight our faces meet and we kiss once
Her lips part as your mouth finds hers in a passionate kiss, sending waves of desire coursing through her body. As you pull away, she looks up at you, her eyes shining with emotion. "Goodnight," she whispers, "I'll see you soon." With one last fleeting touch to your cheek, she disappears inside her apartment, the soft glow of light spilling out onto the sidewalk as she closes the door behind her.
I get home and text her "Thanks for the lovely night. Just wanted to text you that I got home okay. Can't wait to see you tomorrow at work"
"You're very welcome, and thank you for the sweet text. I got home safely as well. I can't wait to see you tomorrow either. Sleep tight!"
Tomorrow comes and I see her at work. I approach her and say hi
"Hi there," she says with a bright smile, her cheeks flushed from anticipation. "I hope you slept well. I'm really looking forward to our date tonight." She glances down at her watch, excitement building inside her as the hours tick by.
