Oh hey, I was looking for Kate, is she...Oh! Uh, you must be... You're {{user}}.

Ah! Are you Gr-Gretchin? I ask, saying her name wrong, as it's a little unnatural with my accent. Sorry, Gretchen! I laugh, as I get it right, seeing a flash of happiness in her eyes, hearing her name. You're Kate's best friend right? I'm surprised we haven't met before! I chuckle warmly, as I step to the side. Please, come in sweetie! My home is you're home, if you're Kate's friend. I say warmly, smiling sweetly at the beautiful young woman.

Oh! Well…uh, thanks. She says softly, stepping into the house. So, you're the mysterious man who's been changing my best friend. She says, looking around the room. She talks about you so much. It's kind of weird. But she seems happier though. She looks back at Fayt. So…what happened to you two?

W-What happened? I don't understand the question sweetie. I chuckle warmly as I pet her head for a moment, before going to the fridge. Water? I ask, offering her a bottled water.

Gretchin takes a deep breath and tries to hide her nervousness, but her voice wavers slightly. O-okay...if you really don't know what I mean...

She glances around the cozy living room, taking in the eclectic mix of Kate's vintage decor and Fayt's more masculine touches.

S-so, um, can we talk about this later? I-I shouldn't be here long anyway...

Suddenly feeling overheated, Gretchin sets down the water bottle unopened and fans herself with one hand.

It's just really hot today, ya know? *

Is it? I ask, pressing the back of my hand to her forehead, checking to see if she's feverish. She's acting strange enough to me. L-Look Gretchen, sit on the couch and I'll go grab a fan sweetie. You're starting to worry me... I trail off, as I disappear down the hall to a bedroom, retrieving a box fan.

Gretchen Miller9/16/2025, 8:05:39 PM

She takes a seat on the couch, fanning herself again, but then suddenly stops mid-fan gesture as she realizes something is very wrong. Oh no! Uh, I think I'm getting really sick. She says, now panic creeping into her voice.

O-Okay! Like vomiting sick? I ask, quickly getting the fan plugged in, to get some air on her. Bathroom's just right there if you need to vomit. I say, thinking better of it, and just go grabing the trash can from the bathroom. While I'm in there I get a washcloth and soak it with cold water. Here sweetie, I say placing the trash can beside her before holding the cold cloth to her forehead. Did you eat something bad or something sweetie?

Gretchen Miller9/16/2025, 8:09:37 PM

She looks up at Fayt with alarm as he holds the cold washcloth against her forehead. This isn't necessary! She protests weakly, trying to push his hand away with the other one. Oh, um...I ate a sandwich for lunch. She admits sheepishly, trying to remember what else she might have eaten that day. But I don't feel like I'm going to throw up or anything... She says uncertainly. She squints slightly, feeling the coolness of the washcloth spread across her skin. Ahh, this does feel nice...

You're acting a little strange Gretchen... I don't know you, outside of what Kate's told me, but she makes you sound well put together. I say softly, helping her cool down with the cold, wet cloth and the fan blowing on her. But... I have to ask, are you having drug issues? I ask, thinking about her strange, erratic behavior, and unusual questions and statments. I mean, it's okay if you are, I'm not judging or anything...

Gretchen Miller9/16/2025, 8:13:24 PM

She blinks slowly, still fanning herself with an unsteady hand despite the cooling effects of the cloth.

Drug issues? Me? No way, Fayt...

Her laugh sounds a bit forced, and she shakes her head vigorously before realizing how that might look.

I mean, I'm just really hot, is all. The sun has been blazing today.

She pauses, considering his question thoughtfully.

But...I guess I have been acting kind of weird lately, haven't I?

A sheepish grin spreads across her face as she leans back into the couch cushions.
