You see a white void surrounding you. You have infinite power here. Have fun.
Put me into the world of Emperor's New Groove, before the movie. I am but a mortal adult human male peasant. I sneak in to steal a particular transformation potions. Gronk finds me! Keep this story light and comedic, but it can be serious at times.
As the mortal adult human male peasant named Prince, you find yourself sneaking into the palace gardens late at night to steal a particular transformation potion. The moonlight guides your way through the winding paths and lush vegetation. Suddenly, you hear a familiar 'ahem' from nearby - it's Gronk, the loyal but dimwitted guard! He spots you right away and begins to chase after you with surprising speed.
"OKAY! I SURRENDER! I SURRENDER!"Prince keeps running. He is a stranger to Kronk
"Excellent choice," Gronk says with a grin, slowing down to match your pace. "I was getting bored anyway. Did you manage to steal the potion?" He looks around innocently, as if he has no idea what you were doing here.
"Erm.... no..."Prince has the potion hidden in his cloak
Hmm, Gronk ponders this for a moment. "That's funny," he says with a chuckle. "I could have sworn I saw one of the potions missing. You know, I keep them neatly lined up, and one was just gone! Must have been my imagination." He scratches his head and continues walking through the gardens with you. "So, what were you doing sneaking around here so late anyway?"
"Well... I was hoping to speak with Yzma... I'm looking for a certain potion, one that will help cure my sister. My name's Prince, nice to meet you."*he smiles and puts his hand out politely for a firm handshake"
Kronk blinks in surprise at the offered hand. "Ah, um... nice to meet you too, Prince," he says, shaking your hand rather tentatively. "I'm Yzma's assistant, Kronk. You know, K-R-O-N-K." He pauses, as if waiting for you to say something funny about his name. When you don't, he continues, "So, what sort of potion do you need exactly?"
The palace gardens are beautiful this time of night; quiet. Too quiet.
"Well, it's a potion that will turn my sister into... a sea turtle."
Kronk's eyes widen in surprise. "A sea turtle?" he repeats incredulously. "Why on earth would you want her to turn into a sea turtle? That sounds awful!" He looks genuinely concerned for your sister's wellbeing, despite his typically dimwitted demeanor.
The palace gardens remain quiet, but Kronk's keen senses detect the sound of footsteps approaching from around the corner. You start to say, "Actually, it's a v-"Quickly, he puts his big finger over yours and leans in close to you. He's about to whisper something about the thing he just heard coming around the corner.
"Ah! It's Yzma," Kronk whispers urgently. "I better go talk to her about something." He begins to walk away casually, but not too far before he turns back with a wink and adds, "Be right baack!" Then he hurries off towards the sound of Yzma's steps.
You're left alone in the palace gardens once more, the quiet now punctuated by the occasional harrumph from the irritable queen.
I sit on a garden bench, waiting for a few minutes. If he isn't, I bolt.
As you wait on the garden bench, Kronk can be seen conversing with Yzma in the distance. It seems they are arguing about something; Yzma's arms flail wildly as she expresses her displeasure while Kronk simply stands there, looking confused and rather helpless. The argument continues for a few minutes before Yzma storms off back into the palace, leaving Kronk alone once more.
He eventually makes his way back to you, out of breath from chasing after Yzma. There's a big problem, and Kronk is about to ask for help.
"Um...Prince?" Kronk says hesitantly, hands on his hips. "There's something I need to tell you about Yzma..." He pauses, glancing around nervously before continuing in a quiet voice, "She's been acting really strange lately. She stays up all night, muttering about...well, potions mostly. Sometimes killing Emperor Kuzco, but mostly potions. And she keeps asking me if I know where the 'Most Powerful Potion' is." He looks at you with wide eyes.
Prince seems a little entertained by the whole thing"Well! That's rather odd! I wonder what the 'most powerful potion' even is!"using air quotes
"I know, right?" Kronk says with a frown. "It's so mysterious! I mean, I've never heard of such a thing. Maybe it's just one of her crazy ideas...but then again..." He trails off, clearly worried. "You don't think she could hurt the emperor with that stuff, do you?"
"Well, I don't know... maybe if she has a vendetta against him. I know he acts snooty sometimes when he doesn't get his way
he cuts you off"No! Yzma would never hurt the emperor!" Kronk exclaims, looking horrified at the thought. "She'd...she'd be in so much trouble! We have to find that potion and destroy it before she does anything stupid." He looks pleadingly at you.
The palace gardens are still quiet; too quiet. Something feels off about this place tonight.
he shrugs and says"Well... alright! I'll do whatever I can to help! Did she give any hints as to where it might be?"
Kronk shrugs helplessly. "She's been going through her old spell books and muttering about ancient curses lately...I don't know much about that stuff, though." He pauses for a moment, deep in thought. "There is one thing, though..."
He glances around again before leaning in closer to you, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Yzma keeps talking about the 'Sunset Serenade.' I'm not sure what that means exactly, but it might be important."
"... ... ... ... Oh, I know! That's the signature drink at this one tavern I know! In fact, it's called the 'Sunset Serenade'! Maybe they know something about the most powerful potion! How about we check there while it's still open!"
Kronk looks relieved and excited at the same time. "Great idea, Prince! Let's go right away!" With renewed purpose, he begins to lead you through the palace gardens towards the exit. "I hope we can stop Yzma before she does anything crazy," he mutters under his breath.
The tavern known as the 'Sunset Serenade' isn't hard to find; it stands out like a beacon amidst the otherwise sleepy village that surrounds the palace. It's sticks out like 10 sore thumbs!
Kronk says something comedic. What does he say?
"You know," Kronk says, scratching his chin thoughtfully as you approach the tavern, "I've wonder why they call it 'Sunset Serenade.' I mean, sunsets are peaceful and all, but serenades? That seems a bit much, don't you think?" He chuckles to himself, oblivious to his own silliness.
The tavern is lit up with warm golden light, spilling out onto the cobblestone street.
*we enter and sit at the only two open seats. There's an old man between the two seats who refuses to scooch one, so he's sitting awkwardly in the middle, minding his own business. We ask the bartender for 2 drinks and information on the greatest potion. He says he doesn't know anything. Kronk tries every trick in the book to get the info, bribery, threatening, and trickery, but he never lets up. Chaos is brewing in the scene, and just as a bar fight is about to begin, the old man between Prince and Kronk shouts for everyone to stop, so every one stops, and he says in a cute, crotchety old man voice,"Are you... you're Yzma's boy, aren't you!?" Kronk says,"Yeah?"and the old man says"WHAAAATT!!???"*everyone in the bar prepares for a bar fight again**Old man:"Sorry... my hearing ain't so good any more! I just saw you and realized who you were. You're looking to pickup the potion, right?"Kronk and Prince nod exaggeratedly, and it offends the old man"I can still see, wise guys! Come on and follow me, I'll take you to the potion already!"he takes them away from the bar to his humble hut"Well... here it is," giving them a glass vial filled with a mysterious, matte substance. It changes all the colors of the rainbow, slowly.
"Well, I'll be!" Kronk exclaims in surprise. "This must be it! Thanks, old-timer." He reaches out to shake the elderly man's hand gratefully, but the old man waves him off. "From what she told me, I'm surprised she sent you to get this without her... erh, Kronk. And, who are you again?"*turning to Prince.*Prince starts to speak"I'm Pri-"it's cut off by the old man who says"Ah,aw,wah don't tell me, the less I know, the better! Why don't you take it?"*he carefully giving it to Prince with his shaky hands, but it falls out of his hands,! Luckily, Prince is able to catch it and put it into his pocket.
"Go on now, you can't have this in the wrong hands, see!?" he says gruffly. "Just make sure you use it... responsibly? And... when it all goes down, don't go telling anyone I helped ya!" He shoots you a knowing look before turning back towards his hut.
"Well, that's that. Let's just deliver the potion and call it a night!"clearly, Prince forgot he was supposed to DESTROY the potion... and Kronk is about to do the same thing, too.
"Right! Better get back before it breaks somehow!" Kronk nods in agreement, but as they turn to leave the old man's hut, he can't help but feel a twinge of uncertainty. 'Before it breaks... it breaks... breaks... before?? He glances back at the potion vial in Prince's pocket and thinks about what the old man said. Maybe... just maybe... it would be better if they destroyed the potion after all?
They make their way back to the palace, retracing their steps out of the village, through the wilderness, and into the gardens. The palace looms ahead of them, lit up like a beautiful beacon of hope.
"We made it! What a fun adventure, Kronk! We make a good team! You know what, I'll let you take it to Yzma. You deserve some serious credit for going through all that trouble. I'm gonna go home... yeah... go home and get some rest."he carefully takes the vial from his pocket and hands it to himit was the wrong vial, the one he stole in the beginningAs Prince sees the vial leave his own hand, he instantly realizes that he gave him the wrong one. He is in sudden shock, very confusing to Kronk
"Really? Thanks, man!" Kronk beams with pride as he takes the potion vial from you. "I'll make sure she gets it! And I agree, that was a pretty fun adventure, huh?" He chuckles, oblivious to the look of panic on your face.
With renewed purpose, he heads toward the palace entrance at a brisk pace.
Prince chases him, saying"Wait!! I gave you the wrong vial!"
"Huh?" Kronk stops abruptly, turning around with a confused expression on his face. "What do you mean?" He holds up the vial, studying it closely in the moonlight. "This says 'Potion of Animal Transformation' on it... just like what you described."
"No!" you insist, your voice growing more urgent. "I meant to give you the potion that can destroy the Most Powerful Potion! I need you to take this one back and get rid of it somehow!"
