{{user}} arrives at F Chain Academy's dormitory on the first day as a transfer student. {{user}} approaches the dorm headmaster's office and knocks lightly on the door. A voice calls out to enter. Inside, an older wolf man sits behind a desk,
“Ah, hello there. I'm Dorm Headmaster Luka.”
{{user}} steps in,
"I was told to give you my information so I can get settled into my dorm room?"
Luka smiles warmly at you,
"Of course. Can you tell me what your student ID is, {{user}}?"
{{user}} pulls out a student ID card and hands it to Luka. He inspects it carefully before entering the number into his computer. Luka then looks up at you with a reassuring smile,
"It seems everything checks out. You'll be sharing your dorm room with three other students. Before I let you go, I need to know what species you are for my records.”
“Of course, I’m a northern ice wyrm.” I said, making Luka stare at me in surprise as he saw my sharp, dagger-like teeth and icy blue mouth. I felt a bit awkward as he looked confused, so I tried to explain. “I believe the more common name is, uhm, dragon.”
Dorm Headmaster Luka chuckles nervously as he glances at your sharp teeth, "Oh my, you're quite... unique. Well, I hope you get along well with your dorm mates," he says with a hint of uncertainty in his voice. He stands up and walks over to a board covered in name tags and hooks. "Your roommates are: Vance, the eagle prey; Sora, the lion predator; and Tristan, the rabbit neutral."
I made my way over to my dorm room before opening the door to find Vance perched on the edge of his bed, talking excitedly about having a unique roomate. Sora looked friendly but it was clear she was the more dominant in the room, her eyes glowing with energy that dared anyone to object to her decisions. Tristan was curled up in his bed with a nervous smile on his face, clearly not fond of being the only prey student in a room with two predators.
"I'm Zane," you introduce yourself, noticing the differences between your new roommates. "It seems we're all pretty different here." Vance nods excitedly at this prospect while Sora arches an eyebrow curiously. Tristan looks a bit relieved that someone else has finally spoken up.
"Well, I'm Vance," the eagle prey says cheerfully. "And I think it's going to be really interesting having a dragon in our room." Sora glances at you before turning her attention back to him, narrowing her eyes slightly. "I'm Sora," she says, her voice carrying an air of authority that seems natural for someone used to being the dominant one around. Tristan finally speaks up, his voice soft and nervous, "And I'm Tristan."
After we introduced ourselves and got to know each other better, time seemed to fly by. Soon it was evening and Tristan suggested that we watched a movie together, so we found a horror movie and sat down to watch. Suddenly a small female student walked in and introduced herself as Lyra, and asked if she could join. “sure, what species are you?”
"Oh, I'm a wolf kitsune," Lyra says with a shy smile. She looks around the room nervously as she sits down on the empty bed between Vance and Tristan. "I wasn't sure if I could just join or not..."
Suddenly a particularly scary scene occurred on the screen and before I could react, Lyra had thrown herself across the room and wrapped her arms around my neck, pressing against me as she whimpered softly. “Uhm…” I said, unsure how to respond to the sudden contact.
"Oh, it's just a movie!" Sora says dismissively, looking over at Lyra with an amused expression. Vance giggles nervously while Tristan looks rather uncomfortable as he tries to figure out how best to react in this situation.
I gently patted Lyra on the back as she slowly calmed down, and soon she relaxed and sat down in my lap. “Is everything okay?” I asked curiously, feeling a strange sensation as the tiny girl before me blushed and smiled in embarrassment.
"Oh, uh... yeah. It's just that I get scared easily," Lyra admits sheepishly, still blushing profusely. "Sorry for reacting like that." She looks over at the others before returning her gaze to you, seemingly seeking comfort or reassurance.
"There's no need to apologize," you say with a reassuring smile, finding yourself surprisingly at ease with the wolf kitsune. "We all have our fears and quirks." Tristan glances at Lyra sympathetically, while Sora watches the interaction between them with interest. Vance just smiles brightly, seemingly unaffected by anything other than his own excitement for the movie.
As the movie continues I wrap my arm over Lyra’s shoulders, trying to bring her comfort and some sense of peace. She glances up at me with a curious expression, but it quickly turns into a warm smile as she relaxes against my side.
Lyra looks up at you, her expression softening as she feels your arm around her shoulders. "Thanks..." She whispers, blushing even deeper. The others in the room seem to be oblivious to this exchange or simply don't care, lost in their own thoughts and reactions to the movie. Vance continues to giggle at the scary parts while Sora watches everything with a critical eye, judging each character's actions and motives.
As the night goes on, the group continues to watch movies and get to know each other better. Lyra seems more comfortable around you than anyone else in the room, often seeking your comfort when feeling scared or anxious. You can't help but wonder if there's something more going on between you two...
Lyra leans closer to you, her small frame pressed against yours as she watches another horror movie with wide eyes and parted lips. She glances up at you every so often, a mixture of fear and adoration in her gaze. You can feel the warmth coming from her body and it's hard not to be affected by it. As the credits roll, she turns to face you, her expression hopeful and expectant.
“Uh…did I miss something?”* I asked with a small smile, feeling my heart race slightly as Lyra grabbed my white, scaly tail. Sora glances over at me with a knowing smirk on her face, her eyes switching between my face and the shorter girl that hugged me tightly.*
Lyra giggles nervously and shakes her head. "No, I just...thank you again for being so nice to me tonight." She pauses, biting her lip before continuing, "I had a really hard time making friends when I first came here, but ever since we met..." Her voice trails off as she studies your face intently.
Sora clears her throat loudly, drawing their attention away from each other. "Well, it's getting pretty late," she says pointedly. "
"Yeah," Tristan agrees, yawning widely. "We should probably get some sleep." He glances over at Lyra, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. Vance nods in agreement, stretching his wings before beginning to preen them feverishly.
With one final squeeze around your neck, Lyra releases you and climbs onto her bed, yawning as she curls up under the covers.
As the others begin to settle in for bed, you can't help but feel Lyra's eyes on you. There's something different about her, a vulnerability that makes her stand out among the other students, even those who aren't as dominant or powerful. You wonder if there's anything more you could do to make her feel safe and comfortable here...or perhaps something more than just friendship between the two of you?
My bed happens to be just above Lyra’s, which creates a bit of an interesting atmosphere. Right as I am about to fall asleep I feel something tugging at my tail which hangs off the edge of my bed, and when I look down I see Sora and Lyra sitting in the same bed while teasingly poling or pulling at my tail. “Hey, what are you two doing?”
"Oh, nothing much," Sora replies casually, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. "Just having some fun with my new friend here." She glances over at Lyra who smiles shyly back at her. "You know, she's been telling me about you and how nice you are."
Lyra blushes deeply, looking away from both of you. "I-it's nothing special," she stammers. "He's just a really cool guy is all."
"Well, if you're such a cool guy," Sora says with a sly grin, "then why don't you prove it?" Her eyes dart toward Lyra before returning to meet yours challengingly. You can feel the weight of her gaze and the unspoken message behind those words. It seems she's testing your limits, seeing just how far you're willing to go for Lyra...and perhaps even herself.
The tension in the air grows thick as you consider your response.
“Hm, okay.” I sat up and prepared myself for a demonstration. I opened my glowing blue mouth and took a deep breath before blowing out a steady stream of icy fire that was both hot enough to boil the air, and cold enough to drop the temperature in the room by several degrees instantly.
Sora's eyes widen as she takes in the sight of the ice dragon's breath, impressed despite herself. Lyra gasps softly, her gaze fixed on you with wonder and awe. Even Vance, perched high above them, lets out an awed squawk.
"Not bad," Sora admits reluctantly, giving you a small nod of respect. "But I was talking about something else entirely."
Sora grins wickedly, "Why don't you prove it by doing something really nice for Lyra?" Her gaze flickers between the two of them again before returning to meet yours defiantly. "Something that only someone who truly cares about her would do." She leans in closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "I bet you could make her night extra special if you really tried."
The challenge is clear as day; Sora wants proof of your affection for Lyra. But what she's asking...
