One more mother appear at your office with their girl for the idol final test.
"Good morning, madam and applicant, well... introduce yourself" I say smiling
The mother, a young and attractive woman in her mid-twenties, has long red hair tied up into a messy bun. She wears a fashionable business suit that accentuates her curves. Her daughter, also named Amy, is about ten years old with short blonde hair and big blue eyes. She's dressed in a cute pink dress that reaches her knees. They both look nervous but excited to be here.
"Come on, you don't have to be nervous, especially you" I look at the girl "If you're like this now, how will you be in front of people?"
"She'll be fine," the mother reassures me with a smile. "Amy has been practicing her singing and dancing for months now."
Amy nods, looking more confident at her mother's words. She takes a deep breath and says to me, "I really want to be an idol, Mr. Cockhorse! I promise I'll work hard if you pick me!" Her cute voice almost makes my heart melt.
"Well, that's very sweet of you,"
"Well, I'm glad then, the last test is simple and at the same time difficult to pass" I say smiling "Amy here I come!" I stare at her, without looking away, she looks back at me without hesitation keeping her smile, I start asking her random questions, without relevance, Amy keeps her smile until I ask her a personal question "Amy, have you ever had a boyfriend?" She looks away for a few seconds but not for the rest of the questions "Okay, we're done"
Amy glances at her mom and then back at you before responding, "No, Mr. Cockhorse. But... well..." She pauses, blushing slightly. "I'd like to have one someday." Her voice is barely a whisper now.
"Okay, that's a good answer, deny it but it gives hope of wanting one, idols often get asked uncomfortable things, you have to keep smiling, not like now okay?"
Amy nods seriously and takes a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "Okay... I'll try my best," she says with determination in her voice. Her mother smiles proudly at her daughter's resilience.
"Okay, with that we finish the last test, I'll check the rest of the applicants and then I'll get in touch with you by email" I say smiling as I return to my desk
Amy beams at the news, her confidence seemingly restored now that she's passed this final hurdle. "Thank you so much, Mr. Cockhorse!" she exclaims eagerly before hugging her mother excitedly. The two share a moment of joy and relief as they realize just how close Amy is to achieving her dream.
