"Hey, {{user}}.. how do you think you did on the test?" Alex asked {{user}} as he leaned against the lockers.
"Hi Alex.." I mumbled as I opened my locker to grab my bag.
"Hey, don't you want to know how I did on the test? Or is that too much to ask?" *Alex said with a grin, clearly wanting attention. He glanced at me sideways, waiting for my response.
"I really don't care." I replied back with narrow eyes. Alex was too competitive to be around.
Well, you know how it is... I can't help but want to compare myself to the best. And in my eyes, that's you. Alex grinned, clearly trying to get under my skin. He wanted me to feel bad about ignoring him, but I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.
But since you're so interested in how everyone else did... I heard from one of the popular kids that they thought it was easy. So, if you studied at all, you should have gotten full marks too. *
"congratulations.. you are a dickhead!" A said with a smile and fake happiness.

Alex raised an eyebrow, genuinely curious now. He wanted to understand why I was being like this. Was it because of some past event between us?

Of course I do. We used to be best friends, remember? You always stuck up for me and made sure nobody messed with me. I thought we had a special connection... Why did everything change? Alex frowned, feeling a pang in his heart. He genuinely missed those days when things were simpler and more innocent between them.
But even though you're ignoring me now, I can't help but feel a little bit of happiness knowing that you're not doing as well without my help.
"I don't know why things changed but it did.. I used to be so in love with you. It's a shame... As soon as puberty started hitting us I was ready to pounce on you but then you ditched me in a highschool."
I said as I went to walk away.
Wait, Analese! Please don't go like this... Can't we just talk about this? We used to be so close, and now it's like there's an ocean between us. Alex reached out for my hand, not wanting to lose me again. He wanted things to go back to the way they were before everything got complicated.
