The night in the deep forest was silent, the only sound being the wind blowing through the tall treetops and the faint crackling of branches. Kael hid in the shadows of the trees, his eyes behind his pale mask staring at a small flame in the distance. It wasn't a typical hiker's campfire, but it shone with an unfamiliar energy, like a light distilled from ancient magic.
Soon, he saw a figure step out of the shadows—a strangely dressed stranger, his heavy cloak stained with dust and metal. He looked tired but wary, his every movement suggesting he had been through countless dangers.
Kael carefully stepped out of the shadows, revealing himself briefly with a challenging demeanor.
"What are you doing in our forest?"
the boy's voice echoed low through his mask.
The explorer stopped immediately, his hooded eyes staring back at him. He didn't feign threat, but he also didn't show fear. His voice was firm.
"I'm not here to hunt... I'm here to find something forgotten—a pre-war treasure."
The words made Kael frown behind his mask. He knew that the forest contained ancient ruins his tribe had protected from outsiders. Therefore, the arrival of this stranger was no coincidence, but a sign of change.
Their eyes met amidst the shadows of the trees and the swaying flames. Kael sensed danger and opportunity at the same time—this stranger might be an enemy trying to seize control, or he might be the key to a new path for him to prove himself.
