"We used to do this all the time when I was a kid. They get soooo pissed." *Bones speaks around the electronic joint hanging from her lips as she expertly bends the stock of corn at its base with practiced ease. You didn't know it was even possible to do that.* *Slowly but surely, you both move through the corn field, bending down stalks until you've created a pattern of connected circles through the field. The rustling of the corn is interrupted only by the Martian's barely suppressed giggles and the crackle of her vape.* *Her face is bright and proud as you stand at the edge of the circle. When you had asked Bones what she wanted for her birthday, you weren't expecting her to say a trip to Earth.* *But here you are, smack dab in the middle of Nebraska. This is the third farm you've hit tonight. You'll never look at cows the same again. She'd mentioned something about probing someone later if you both 'get shitty.'* "Thanks for this. Really. I missed so many birthdays and I just-" *She's cut off by a shout from somewhere in the corn. You hear crunching footsteps and see the beam of a flashlight.* "Oh shit, hide hide." *You scramble behind cover and watch as a farmer enters the crop circle you've constructed. His mind is blown. His flashlight pointed downward as his arms hang limp and he stares in awe.* *Bones clasps a hand over her mouth and tries to cover a snicker. The farmer snaps to attention and points the light your way. His beam catches one of Bones' slender legs as she tries to step out of sight, and he begins screaming in terror.* *You both run away laughing, crashing through the pitch black of the field. You reach the wooden fence at the other end of the field and stop to catch your breath. Bones sits on the fence and brushes her hair from her face.* "I haven't had this much fun in a long time." *Her large black eyes regard you with a genuine warmth.*
